ok, need MORE ticking help, this time got pictures and video

Ok, so I decided to pull the valve cover off on the left side (side the ticking sounds from) and heres some things I found.

First, everything looks clean, good sign. http://www.hotdub.com/67stang/rocker4.JPG

BUT! I noticed two things.

1. The second piston's second rocker spring is 1/4" LOWER than all the other rocker springs.

and

2. Some of the rockers have left-to-right play in them. The smushed spring rocker tood some oomph to move left-to-right so I assume its right, BUT a few of the others had easy play in them like the second from the front seen here in this video i took.

forgot to add, i tried tightening up that rocker but i couldnt get the nut to budge

That's funny, I didn't see a thing wrong there with your rockers. The reason, you can't tighten it anymore is because those studs are positive stop studs. To adjust the rockers, you simply tighten them down all the way til the nut contacts the shoulder at the bottom of the threads. The one that's down ( smushed) is simply holding the valve open. They all will have some side to side play when the valves are closed. If you have a ticking sound, it's likely an exhaust leak at the manifold ( or header, if you have them) where it contacts the head. Or you could possibly have a sticky lifter.

btw, i think its a lifter, i checked the exhaust, plus it sounds like its right under the front left corner of the intake manifold.

One way to eliminate the exhaust, is to crank it up , then while holding the throttle open to keep th eengine at a steady 1500-2000 rpms, pour a small amount of ATF trans fluid down the carb throats. If there's an exhaust leak, you'll spot the smoke coming out when the ATF starts burning. If it's a lifter, check each cylinder's pair when that cylinder is at TDC on the firing stroke for excessive slack in the rocker and pushrod. Try to do this after the motor's been running a few minutes to insure the oil pressure's built up in the lifters.
