ok ok stupid question

i just got my RCI fuel cell in the mail...inside of it there is two black foam-like blocks. do those come out?i dont know if its like some safty thing and the gas doesnt affect it...im pretty sure it comes out but juist not 100 percent on this one.

It will slow the gas from rushing out if the tank gets puncher. I don’t know if this foam is like this but some foam will release gases when exposed to a fire that will help to slow or smother the fire.

Almost there!

It allows a full fuel cell to be dented/compressed without causing the fuel cell to burst. Fuel is like hydrolic fluid..it cannot be compressed. With the foam in there, the tank can be "squished" a little without bursting.

Yah that to but it will release fuel like a piece of open cell foam that has been dipped in water. It will keep you from dumping your entire fuel load in one fail swoop.:D Decreasing the fireball you will make.:flame::eek:

I worked aircraft fuel systems in the Air Force for 10 years, most of our fuel tanks had foam in them to keep them from exploding when hit with anti aircraft fire. The foam is there, so a spark in the tank wont explode ,it will just singe the foam. The foam displaces the air inside the tank creating a less volitile atmosphere. In short, static electricity + fuel vapors = BANG the foam just burns up if theres a spark keeping your car from melting down, plus it helps with the slosh and keeping the tank from caving in. Just my 2 cents.

I also use the RCI set up and it is the biggest bang for the buck.

You are going to have to vent that thing. If the vent is still on the drivers side I would suggest you run the vent tube over to the passenger side fender extension (that small aluminum casting above the rear bumper beside the taillight). Otherwise you may get fuel spillage. The tube exit will be out of sight under the fender extension cap.

Also, put a roll over valve in the vent line - cheap insurance in-case you get upside down.

Happy Motoring!
