And the dude also installed a 180 thermostat, and I believe he bumped up the timing. I'm not sure how much power that will add but I hear that's the way to go if you own a Mustang, so the guy KNEW what he was doing.

Matter of fact, HE'S the one who pointed me to this forum after selling me the car. I don't know if he ever posted or what his name was online, but everything he told me and everthing I've read on this forum matches up perfectly.

It seems like he was just as nutty as you guys are.

He's prolly got the timing set between 12 and 16. Adds a few ponies but not much. The thing is on these cars, a little here and a little there can make a huge difference...

Air Baffle, TPS at .99, Bump Timing to 14, ice the intake, slap in a k&n, bypass the smog pump, throw some exhaust on and you've got a fairly quick car. Add some 3.55 or 3.73 or 4.10 gears and get an electric fan, an intake, a TB and a maff and you've got a great little boxer.

Alright, I checked my timing with one of my mechanic friends, and he told me it was at 12 degrees advanced. Is that good enough or should it be bumped up more?

I think people under estimate the S2000. My friend has a 2002 S2000 bone stock car. I have seen this car beat cars with much more HP than he has(240 factory hp) but maybe these people couldnt drive. I have run him myself. When we go from a dig he has no chance at all, I jump out 3-4 cars before the top of second and he cant catch up. Now from a roll its a different story. I can pull him from a 1st gear roll but from 2nd gear we are dead even until around 95-100 and then I slowly inch up on him and pulll maybe a fender and then we shut down. So dont get to over confident, it really depends on what kind of race he wants, if you agree to run him from say a 40 roll then be ready for a good race.

Here is a vid of me running my friends S2000 from a 35 roll. Its dead even most of the race. Im running all motor, no nitrous.

the vid of you running the s2k is surprising. the vid of your friend running him is not. the 1st race he starts in 3rd at like 2500-3000 rpm... wtF? and he missed 4th? second race same thing start way too low in the powerband... from maybe 3k? third race is when he actually starts in the right gear 2nd im guessing, and walks him like he should.

I guess I should have said the 04 GT is an auto. On that last run I told him "Why dont you just drop it into 1st and see what happens and from a 20 roll that was the result. I have run the S2k from a 20 roll also and destroyed him, but from higher speeds it is hard to pull on the S2K reving at 9k, as well a stock H/C/I fox would. I think the only thing that helped me start to pull a little, very little up top is I have a B303 cam that provides a little more top end power, but without the H/I its not really helping me much. I have also run him on sp
ray from a dig, 1st and 2nd gears and it is very ugly

Yeah I run Nitto drags and actually do hook launching on spray. Im glad you enjoy my vids, keep an eye out for more this coming wendsday, ill be running a few cars after the local meet on tuesday night and ill post them on SVT. I would post them here but I dont get much response from them, and the response I do get is negative with all the street racing haters here. Your right, most people on svtperformance are very well to do and thats why they drive terminators that are worth $40-$50k, I use to have a 01 Cobra and thats how I started posting there.

cold air intake...there's a good .0 gain....that's zero..none..zero, TB...also likely less than nothing. I run stock box with a panel filter and it feeds my combo easily...well over 300. What I'm sayins is... you can't GAIN if the car doesn't need the extra air and with our cars and the stock box..it doesn't need any 'extra air' in N/A form from the inlet system, not to mention the stock box attains the air from the EXACT location the 'CAI' does. Now you're racing a car (sorry "beast") that someone trying to sell you 'said' runs 13.2 against a car that legitimately runs 13's....good luck, it might....you might...you don't know. My guess is you spin...he wins...game over. List your modifications and we'll have a better idea of what numbers you're laying down and with that a better chance of estimating your ETA. 5.0's FEEL deceptively fast...often ET'ing slower than expected and often dyno numbers lower than expected..they are a blast but yes deceptive.

So you're trying to tell me that replacing the OLD, crappy, rubbery hose equipped with a nasty BLACK K&N filter sitting in the engine bay with a fresh, metal, cold-air kit that mounts in the fender isn't going to give me ANY gains? I could FEEL the engine respond much quicker, not to mention it actually idled steady intead of shaky and uneven.

I guess you're the expert, not me.

the shiny metal one is just for looks. The black K and N needed a cleaning, they have a million mile warranty

The "CAI" could even make it worse, all the heat from the engine bay makes that metal much hotter than the rubber would ever get. I think you'll still get him on the street, they don't run 13s as easily as everyone thinks. I raced my old boss who had a black one and I beat him, my best time at the track was a 14.6 @ 96.6, spinning like a mofo. On the street I hook up much better. The first time I went to the track I was running 14.8-15.1(with about half of the mods in my sig) and the S2000 there was only running 14.6 best.

IMO the CAI doesnt help really. IMO it doesnt get much hotter and if it does it wont matter aluminum disapates heate MUCH FASTER than rubber will. and air is moving so fast thru the tube it doesnt really have the time to increase temperature.
