I think the rear sits a little high...hopefully it will settle. The front bullets are about an 1" taller than the wheel/tires in the pic. Opinions????

Couple quick questions:

Did you remember not to torque the rear shackels until after you had the full weight on the suspension?

The angle on your underriders is TERRIBLE!! did you install them without the weight on suspension?

What is the outer diamter of your tire...are you still floating around the 26 inch mark or are you down to 24.5?

Are those 5 leaf standard eye?

I had most of the weight on the suspension when i torqued down the shackles...but i will loosen them up and retorque tomorrow.

Angle of my Caltracs is bad? Thats the ONLY way you can install them. its a straight forward install. No adjusting of angles.

diamter of my rear tires is not 26" Fender to ground is 27.75" Im guessing tire diamter is around 25 or so.

4.5 leaf...mid eyes.

Sorry, I didn't realize they were caltracs...I thought they were underriders.

Did you replace the shackels?

I have 25 inch tall rear tires and 5 leaf mid eyes and it's only 26 inches to my fender lips....now granted my FB is a little heavier in the rear, but you have slightly softer springs.....I would loosed those shackles up, bouncy the car good and long, toghten it up, drive around the block, and then re-measure...that should be all the settling you will see.

Where did you source your springs from?

I got my springs from Mustangs Plus...I think. The shackles are brand new heavy duty pieces with poly bushings. My rear is very light. It has no exhaust on it, and a fiberglass decklid.

I cant take the car aound the block. So, loosen up the shackles...bounce it up and down...and then torque them down...to what spec?

It's hard to tell from your pic.
do you have any interior weight in it?
add a spare tire and jack and a tank of gas maybe it will settle in.

Its not going to settle much...

Are trying to level the car, lower the rear, or fill the wheel wheels? I like the rear wheels!

Wondering the same thing. What are you going for here? Right now I got a level ride hight, but I really wanna drop it down about an 1". Nice and low.

What diameter are your rear wheels? They look to be 16" or even larger. The fronts are smaller in the photo and that will give a higher look in the rear.

once I get spacers for my front wheels I will post another pic. That will level out the car, but I was hoping to fill int he wheel wells a little bit better. I really wont know until the car is completely reassembled and I drive it a bit. The front springs were just replaced also. What ftlbs should the shackles be torqued to?

That looks awfully high for mideyes. I run regular-eye (or whatever you call it) and my rear is somewhat lower than yours

I agree w the above, loosen, settle, retighten. My rear was in the sky at first, but after about a month of driving it settled about 1/2", best I can guess. I confess I did not take detailed measurements of the ride height, just going 'by eye'

if those are caltracs they should have multiple holes for the front mount of the traction bar. From what I can see in the picture you still have at least one lower hole left to go. Mounting your front pivot in the lower holes would level out the traction bar freeing it from possible bind with the leaf spring. This binding may be one thing that is keeping your suspension from settling down right now.

I know that I should probably readjust my caltracs too. I need to loosen them up now that the weight is on the rearend. I wonder what kind of performance different it would be to move the pivot point down to the other hole...if any. They come pretty much preassembled for my car...I just bolted them on as the instructions said to.


Still waiting on a torque spec for the shackles guys...

What I was trying to say is that your caltracs may be the very reason your rear end is sitting up too high. With the traction bar sitting at such an angle then it may be causing a bind when the leaf spring tries to compress. Moving the front pivot to the lower hole would bring the operating arc of the traction bar closer to following the arc the leaf spring tries to follow during suspension travel.

Pretty much stock for the front...except for 620 coil springs, and a shelby drop. Still need to get some IAS shocks for the front, and a different sway bar The front tires are 17x8" chrome bullets...with a 225/50? (i think) tire. 1" wheel spacer too. No wheel spacers on the rear with a 69 Mach I 9" and 5.75" BS on a 17x8" wheel.

What pics do you want of the rear? Underneath? The suspension?

You REALLY have to drive the car. It won't settle until you do. So many factors can play in. Is your interior in, full tank of gas, moved battery. But really, just driving the car is what you need to do. Bumps, corners, braking, accelleration. You can't similate any of that in your driveway.

You just have to be patient, get the car on the road and drive it. Then make your assessment.
