i would like to say that i disagree with popular opinion around here. nobody answers alot of threads, and i have heard older members complain that they are tired of answering old threads. but there are alot of entry level stangers out here that don't have the money for 347's and superchagers, and turbo, and the complicated q's that they entail. so obviously you will get alot of cobra intake questions, e cam, etc. But if you didn't want to help people, why sign up if not to talk to fellow mustangers? i don't think the search works all that well. you may find a similar question, but never your exact same circumstance. say a guy asks about the power increase on gt40 heads on his stock 5.0, but maybe i want to know the power increase on my 5.0, and it's stock with b or e cam and roller lifters? besides, the search brings up unrelated crap too. whats the big deal if it's been posted before? people are so busy sitting at their computers in thier underwear and they are too good to answer a question they might have heard before? sounds like some people should get off their high horse, no pun intended.

well said! I think what a lot of people forget is that not too long ago they were probably the one annoying the elder stangers with questions. I can't wait till the day where I know enough about the mustang that people come to me for advice!

I answer posts when I have experience and worthwhile knowledge to contribute. A lot of the answers are cut and paste from my library, but a lot of the questions posted have been asked before.

Most people don't mind answering questions, but it seems like the same types of questions are being asked when the same topic is being discussed in a similar thread on the first page. Also, although the search function SUCKS and should be reprogrammed (I think a lot of the problem is that it searches for each individual word instead of the phrase you type; also it usually won't let you search for words under 3-4 letters, which eliminates most of the acronyms such as TPS, EGR, CAT, IAC, which get a lot of questions), I do believe that some people don't even try to search. Searching does sometimes comes up w/ enough threads so you can get some info and then inquire further with more specific questions.

I think we need to create a more extensive list of sticky's - maybe a "best of" subcategory of 5.0 Tech that has the most asked threads in there (Tire sizes/fitment, best x/h pipe, best muffler, best shifter, how to clean throttle body/IAC/MAF, how to pull codes, etc).

All said, I do understand your frusteration, so I do try to help with whatever I can; sometimes I'll even run a few searches myself and try to link the askee to relavant threads that I think answers what they're asking nicely.

Again, I don't think people are intentionally being jerks, but sometimes it's obvious when people don't even attempt to search before posting (I've been guilty of it too).

Welcome to Stangnet

Also, sometimes if your question isn't answer right away, it's because the people who have read the thread don't know the answer and would rather not post inaccurate/misguided information if they aren't for sure what they're saying is correct.

I agree with James about the Stickies. Like on the 94-95 side, Vib did a sweet job of putting together their sticky (I think it was Vib who did it - if not, my apologies). That does save a lot of repetitive threads and is a great resource.

I am of the mind that David and others are, in that it is ok to post new threads, since everyone's combo/situation, etc is different. And advice changes (I know the advice I would give for a particular issue has changed since a year or two ago).

I don't sweat the folks who complain. I feel like that sometimes, but I simply choose not to reply to the particular threads. Some real gems come from threads which seem like they would go nowhere.

I don't mind answering posts. I do it when i can.

But there are just some times i don't feel like answering the same question that i have answered literally 100 times before. It just take a lot of energy to write out some of these detailed responses.
