right now i have a 94 gt vert (aod-e that's messing up AGAIN!) i know that over the winter break im gonna go for the aod-e to T-5 swap (hopefully for cheap so let me know if any of you have stock or aftermarket T-5 swap parts you can let go of for cheap)... i also have to fix my bumper which got hit saturday night by some drunk kid in the UMASS parking lot and drove off.. along with installing a set of machined 03 cobras... now, i would also like to have a little more GO on the track....(so i can finally run my buddy in his 90 LX on the track...im thinking to have a set of 3.73's installed( with the rear end clutches repacked) rear control arms, and a gt-40 intake... and full length S/F connecters if i can find a guy that doesnt rip me off for welding. Since that just about drains my available bank account for the mustang (and then some) does anyone think there are more bang for the buck mods i should be putting my money into maybe there is a different intake that might have more high end pull, but i'd like to keep my low end torque too. (i have stock 2.83 rear gears, so i know that one's pretty much a given) any comments would be much appreciated thanks, Kyle

oh ya, if i forgot to mention it before(i was drinkin a few rollin rocks, but thats no excuse) i already have cai, mac o/r h pipe, and mac cat back along with march u/d pullies, and i dont want to go nitrous... the direction i'd like to go in is to have a very sharp, clean, fairly stock looking (nothing radical like a body kit) street car (soon to be 5 spd) that can do no more than hold its own on the track against other foxes and sn-95's. in the seasons to come i will probably add the heads/ cam/ t.b. MAF, fuel system and tune... and that should be good (of course i only say that now). but anyways, thanks for the input, and keep it coming if anyone has ideas about a diff intake etc i should use, maybe i might just have the stock lower ported to keep my torque, what do you think would be a good upper to pair up with it?? a little show never hurt, which is the only reason im not thinking along the lines of explorer intake... (they're ugly) i think at least

Stock lower only mounts with the stock type uppers...87-93 would work but you would need to change your t-body and egr over. That or get an Old KB charger that matches the stock lower...

Until you get heads the ported stock lower will be more than enough intake...even with a set of heads that intake will prob. not be too bad until you get some cash.

I cleaned up my explorer intake a bit its not so ugly

the front hard line has been removed.

Nice! I see that you smoothed out the side castings before you painted it. Wait until you see mine. I've been working on it forever now. All I can tell you is that it will look NOTHING like that one.

ya blksn, i remember seeing a thred where you cleaned yours up... very nice too, there are so many options too, i could always paint it black or something(my buddy's dad owns a powder coat and paint shop) to be differeent(will the stock "5.0 HO plate fit on there....i had my dad chrome mine out at Smith & wesson and we inlaid the background with black) i think that might look unique and pretty good for the time being

the only thing i do fear about too much gear is turning too many rpms around town.. but only really in a sense that with my exhaust combo around massachusetts (mac o/r h and mac cat back,) ill be making too much noise to go anywhere... i'd like to be able to shift at like 1600-1700 rpms while taking it easy, and turn no more than 1800 rpms at about 50-55 mph, is this possible... i know that the only thing that has saved me from the police lately is the fact that my aod-e and 2.83 gears can get me moving while not shifting above about 12-1300 rpms, this will get me to 50 mph and keep it quiet... i know this isnt as doable in a 5 spd, but i also dont want to have to rev really fast just to keep up with traffic... BTW, the two times last summer i cruised out of overdrive (about 2000 rpms at 55 mph, i was pulled over for noise violations and was only maintaining speed on a flat road...so dont tell me my exhaust isnt TOO loud just because some of you have louder setups)

they must be crazy strict up there around here we have cars that run around with half open cut outs and no one says a word my car is loud as hell and i roll around at 2200 rpms...

well throw 2 high flow cats on your h-pipe and then get at least 3.73s don't forget about the overlooked 3.90s

Jeez, where in Ma are they that strict? I have no cats, 3:73's, and flowmater 40's, I work in Attleboro and have yet to get a noise violation... I cruise through town at 2500 or so RPM's jsut so I can enjoy it most days...

ya, i'm in a small town in western mass, when the sun goes down, every person goes into hybernation around here so i sound like the world is coming to an end around here, oh and by the way... there is a thread around here which compares how loud mufflers are, and the flowmaster 40's arent even close to as loud as the mac (as far as Db's go anyways.... according to this test, the only non-strait-through (chambered) muffler louder than mine is straight pipe and no muffler. hard to believe I THINK, and i would have never got them if i knew this... but anyways, thats how it is, and i cant see myself throwing away a practically brand new exhaust system just because of a few cops. oh, and 94 vert.. you know mass sucks for everything legal, they just happen to have better things to bust people for where you are

Kyle

You should be able to get petty close to your desires with 373's and a t-5.

Don't know what tire size you're gonna run but .....................

245x45x17, 373's, t-5, & 55mph is gonna produce a rpm of 1825

Check it out for yourself!
