I saw this system on the net in a show car, a 2004 Cobra. What do you all think of this.

JL Audio Amplifers ( 1000/1 & 450/4 )

2 Red Top Optima Batteries

4 1 Fared Capacitors

3 JL Audio 12W6V2's

Custom built box

Audio VR Seperates for the doors and rear deck speakers

I agree, caps are essentially blown money for most everyone. The system sounds solid, but I, too, would refrain from the JL amps. They're too quirky for my liking. If you want to spend the money for good stuff, go for some Tru, Genesis, US Amps, old Adcom, or maybe some Audison. If you want to save your first born, then Memphis, Cadence, Crossfire, Kicker, Rockford, Alpine, Elemental Designs, etc, all make good equipment. Find what will fit in the space you want to give up, and we can help you from that point.

I actually already have a P A Performance 200 amp altenator.

i have the same one, you dont need an extra batt, next i agree with the sound gods no jl amps. I only use US amps there stable down to 1 ohm hand built in florida :nice: and i have a us150 runnig 3 pioneer premier subs in my car at 1.333 ohms and its loader than crap. no crossover so i would recomend a phoenix gold bass cube :nice: ive had the amp for 5 years and never an issue, i do like the subs but they need a lot of airspace and i  dont know how much room you have in there.

Caps are for people who do sound comps you'll never notice a voltage drop, i have my batt in the trunk and everything you can stuff in a mustang up front an my lights dont even dimm at night.

I just helped my friend install a system in his tahoe. We used the jl 1000/1 amp to run a 12w7. We used the 300/4?? I think to run all the front speakers...infinity kappas....we used a 1.5 farad cap, and the thing is killing his lights at a stop...he is in the process of looking for a bigger alternator now...his stock is, I believe, a 170. The system sounds great. I ENDORSE the 1000/1 jl amp. I have kicker in mine, and should have gone with jl..his thing really, really sounds good...
