stupid question but how are you guys tuning your air fuel ratio's? wide band? you also prob need someone else to drive while you tune riding shot gun right?oh and with a tweecer do you need to have your lap top connected to your computer everywhere you drive, or can you load those programs on to your cars computer and let them do their thing without a lap top? stupid q's i know but im about 2 steps from getting myself one of these things or a PMS. I have the money for either, just not sure which one is better.

Oh one more stupid question... I am looking into large displacement engines, like 400ci+. i will be able to use either a tweecer or PMS to tune it right? which system would offer me more bang for the buck? will a tweecer/PMS work in an explorer equiped with a 5.0 computer?

thanks

Two answers: 1) In closed loop, I tune with datalogging from the TwEECer. 2) In open loop (i.e. WOT) I tune on the dyno with a wideband.

with a tweecer do you need to have your lap top connected to your computer everywhere you drive, or can you load those programs on to your cars computer and let them do their thing without a lap top?

For daily driving the TwEECer works like any other chip. You connect the laptop only when you want to update the calibration, or if you want to do datalogging.

I have the money for either, just not sure which one is better.

A matter of preference. From what I have seen, it appears the PMS is somewhat easier to use, and the TwEECer has more features.

how long could it generally take me to understand/get used to tuning my own car? can i get great results by driving around and data logging with the RT then tuning and re-data logging? or is dyno tuning the best? what is the deal with tweecers customer service? is it all done online or are there people who could help me get started with a solid tune? Also, I have windows millenium-do i need a different operating system on my laptop?

this looks like the thing i need to stop my car from stalling everytime i come to a stop--especially after being on wot.

bottom line- you guys out there with the tweecer r/t, are you happy with your purchase or do you wish you went all out and purchased a PMS, F.A.S.T., or AEM engine managment product?

i am looking for a more dependable stang, your replies will benefit me greatly with my next round of modifications, thanks in advance!

Now that I have a D&D Viper spec t-56 good to over 1000hp- that problem wont happen again! Looking to do some serious racing, anyone in the Pittsburgh area let me know where the closest track is!

That depends on your aptitude, some people pick it right up, others just can't get a good handle on it. What's important is understanding how the EEC does its thing. Computer knowledge is handy for operating the software, but that's about it. There are a couple of good books that will give you a basic understanding of EEC operation. Probably the best is this one.

You will do both. You datalog while driving around in order to tune driveability. That is, the things that affect how the car drives on the street. Surging, timing retard on shifts, etc, etc. The dyno is where you go to do power tuning for full throttle operation.

I seem to remember that at one time the TwEECer folks offered some driveway tunes for a price. But you can generally find good starting points by looking in the TwEECer forums. Just switching to J4J1 made my car driveable enough to use every day, and I've done some TwEECing from there. I've also tried tunes by others with similar combos, and had good success with that.

Also, I have windows millenium-do i need a different operating system on my laptop?

Windows ME sucks badly, but I think the TwEECer software would probably work with it.

Repeat after me ... "J4J1"

No regrets at all. It would have been easier to pay someone else to burn a chip, but I enjoy being able to control my tune, so this worked out perfectly.
