Hey everyone,

First off this forum is great and has answered a lot of questions of mine so far about the new mustang.

Anyways, I am planning on ordering a Mustang GT soon, but I need it to be delivered in March because I won't be able to drive it till then. The question I have is though, what am I looking forward too when I go see the dealer? If I want to place an order, I know I have to put a down payment first, but then do I have to finance the car or anything before it comes in? Also, I'm planning on using X-plan, so would I negotiate a price for the car now and have the dealer uphold the negotiated price when it comes in?

If you guys could answer any of these questions and/or give any more information it would be really helpful. I tried searching and couldn't really find anything. Thanks in advance.

I would order soon. First of all, the Ford plant has shut down for 10 days I think, so I don't know if you could even order one until the start of January. Then, there have been some delays (or so it has been reported). Then to top it off, there are going to be a load of people who are going to try to order for spring delivery. Here in Wisconsin, I know of a handful of people doing just that. They think they are going to order early Feb and have it late March. It may happen that way, but I would be a little suprised.

I ordered late Nov. My GT is supposed to be built the week of 1/17, and if it holds out that way, I may have it by 1st or 2nd week of Feb (and I have a pretty decent priority rating at 12....hell there is only 2 better). Assuming you have the same wait time (big assumption), that would put you at mid March or so.

If you are qualified for X-plan, you don't negotiate. They will show you what X-plan pricing is for your car with your options. Then you put down a deposit, and won't need financing until you pick up your car (but you can secure it once you have your VIN).

Good luck

i orderd mine in late nov on the x-plan and still dont have a build date. the x- plan is the xplan. you do the financing when the car arrives but you will most likely have to cough up the deposit now.

don't negotiate anything, just use your xplan and make it easy. I would order asap, because all of the orders in the past two weeks have been backing up and now I think the next available build date is late in January.

Order now. When they come back from the holidays you are only looking at 8 weeks. I didnt have to put down a deposit. I delt with the fleet manager and he said that if I dont want it he could sell it in less than two days. He said a deposit ensures that they wont get stuck with the car. He said there was no worry there. Sooooooo no dollars out of my pocket!

You should get busy. Not all dealers seem to accept x-plan in this situation. And the closer to spring we get...

1 Find a dealer that accepts x-plan.
2. Make sure his allocation of cars is in line with his order stock. He should be able to present a allocation schedule and point out where your order is located in time on that schedule.
3. Order the car asap!
