An SKS is easy to change the stock on, unless you want to glass bed the new one or something. You pull the trigger guard out to begin with and this can be accomplished with even a 7.62 round. If I remember correctly, there will be a button under the trigger guard to push in on then pull out the trigger assembly. If not a little button the it could be that the back of the trigger guard will have a hole in it that you just stick the shell or a screwdriver in and pry down (Like on a Ruger Mini 30) and it pops out. Once the trigger guard is out you can take the rest of the assembly out the top of the stock. Some net sites should have this illustrated. The screw that goes thru the stock near the forend is fixed and does not come out for this operation. Once you do it you'll see it's very simple to do. Good luck!
