OT: Music

Hey I just made a pretty good score at Hastings. 6 cds for 20 dollars. Most of them were used an in the extreme discount rack. Used cds are a pretty good source for music. Of course you have to get lucky because they may not have what you're looking for in the store. Boy do I miss the old napster. It was cool to be able to find the old songs I like that no body sells anymore.

Have any of you tried the new music services like itunes, and what do you think of them.? Are they a good deal?

I guess I should get with the program and give some of the new stuff on the radio a listen. I always said that I would keep up with music and never become one of those "thats not real music" old farts, but I'm afraid that I've come to think that most of the new rock is crap. Someone please bring back the electric guitar gods.

Haven't tried any of the services beacuse I own over 200 c.d.'s and pretty much have everything I want. I agree that most new rock is crap and never thought I would say that either. Some music I would like to have has never been put on c.d. as far as I can tell e.g., B.T.O. (not the best of crap, but stuff like Not Fragile).

I love Hastings because of their used CD's. And I have odd taste in music so I can regularly get CD's I like for around $4.

My biggest problem is I get in there, see all the CD's and go into overload and can't remember what I was looking for.

luckily we have a couple radio stations that play what i consider good stuff, but i have a kinda eclectic taste for music

I don't keep a hard copy of music anymore. i used to but then it just doesn't make sense. I live (underway) in a box large enough to put 5 changes of cloths a few mag/laptop and a few other things (navy). It makes NO sense to carry cd's. Plus the ship is a playground for music sharing. If I want it, I just trade an mp3 or just give him a few bucks for all i want. He gives me a disc with everything I could need.
When not at work, I download from allofmp3.com. The problem with sites like itunes/napster etc etc is that along with the music you get this annoying little thing called a protection file. its there to limit the time you transfer the music from 1 computer to the other. Its like having a limited amount of cd players(usually 7-10) you can play a cd on. It’s to keep mass file sharing down. If you loose the file, the music is worthless! So think about that.

b.t.o is on there too. As for music being crap now-a-day, I don't know but I still love a lot of it. Have you heard the new audioslave or the new foofighters? How can that be crap? I think its how well you change, not the quality of music. Every generation goes through a phase. One thinks its better then the next (including its music).

since the loss of napster file sharing including mp3 (music) has just become bigger and better. infact much much bigger. Download kazza and bareshare and winmx and any other file sharing program and youll find any song you can think of i guarantee it I have close to 5000 songs i downloaded off the net. it is not currently illegal in any way.
