Other names for quad shocks??

I've been phoning around trying to get some new quad shocks, and every place says they don't see anything like that. I told them to look for quad shocks, horizontal dampers, horizontal shocks, rear axle dampers, and they still can't seem to find anything. I live in canada, so only a couple part store options around here! I remember seeing once that there is a different kind of shock that can be used, and is much cheaper. (maybe something to do with steering)? Anyone know what i'm talking about? With all the 8.8 ford axels out there, i find it hard to believe that nobody would carry this part...

Why not contact your Ford Dealer. If the parts guy there doesn't know what you're talking about, kick him in the face and ask for to speak to someone who knows anything about cars!!!

Or....you could just put the money towards a set of aftermarket lower control arms and forgo the quad shocks altogether. Sounds like a perfectly good excuse for a suspension upgrade to me?

i don't need both upper and lower CA's to ditch them? if just lowers, maybe thats what i'll do for now. i plan on it in the future, but just got outta school and no money right now. there is no autozone here. just partsource and canadian tire and napa. from ford i heard they are ridiculously overpriced, like $260 for the 2 shocks. i've seen on here there are generic type shocks that fit for like $25 each, but cant find where i saw it.

Napa will carry them. You just spoke to a moron.

all you need is good lower arms and you can trash them or you can use KYB part number KG4521, like $33 I think.

It says 2.3 liter but the 4 bangers didn't have them... So that wouldn't be possible.

You might as well just pay the blue oval industries boxed arms with poly bushings. That will really help alot. The uppers are not hard to put in at all. The lowers definitely required more work. I have to take my mufflers out to do the lowers.

Try Auto Zone again and ask for P/N Gabriel 14039 the boxes are mismarked as steering dampers.

Dont get poly on both sides, youll make them worse than they are. Best bet get a set of MM lowers and match them with frpp uppers. Also installing aftermarket arms isnt gonna make wheel hop better, you might need the quads still......
