Parking Brake Adjustment

Ok I am confused after reading the Clintons manual and reading some posts I am not sure if there is any way to adjust my parking brake cable or not. Let me start by saying the rear brakes are adjusted properly I just checked last night to make sure.

The parking brake does engage but at the very top of the travel and even then it is weak. I would like to take the slack out of the cable, in the manual it says there is an adjusting nut for a 1990 stang but some have said there is not one. Before I take the console apart looking for this nut can someone tell me for sure if there is any adjustment or not?

No adjustable cable on 87-93 Stangs. They use a ratcheting type self adjuster similar to the one on the OEM clutch quadrant.

Dam I guess that means the cable is stretched or the ratchet adjustment is not working.

The self adjustment mechanism has weakend. You can try winding the spring tighter but it will be a bit of a PITA. Good luck.

Sounds like you're hosed. About the only real solution is to replace the cable. It's a bummer, but that's about all you can do.
