Part Out My Notch Or Sell As Is??

I may have to sell my '91 that I've had for 9.5 years.
Tell me what you think: if I do have to sell it, should I remove all of my bolt-ons and return it to closer to stock condition (keep or sell some of the parts)...OR sell it complete? What do you think it's worth either way?

It has 75K on it now, original paint (good condition), NO rust at all, runs very strong, gets 24mpg on highway, and I love having it around. I don't drive it much these days and may not be able to justify keeping it past this spring. Overall, it's in great shape without ever having been in an accident, or other paint work. I've done a lot of little things/details, but here's the short list of mods:

93 Cobra wheels, Nitto tires (good shape)
twisted wedge heads
1.7 FMS roller rockers
GT40 intake, ported lower
65mm t-body
73mm MAF
24# injectors
FMS heavy-duty clutch
MAC long-tubes
2.5" h-pipe & 40-series Flowmaster, No tails
Hurst shifter
3.73 Ford gears, OEM limited slip (good shape)
weld-in subframe connectors
Megabite Jr. lower control arms
Eibach Pro-kit springs
Hotchkis caster/camber plates
Poly-bushings everywhere
Autometer Mechanical Oil & Water

very very nice ride, this is the kind of car people look for, I would not take anything off you really dont have any major mods. Are those real 93 cobra rims or aftermarket?

anyway very nice car list it @ 10k IMO

I dont know 'bout the price but I do agree that that is nice. i'd say just post it somewhere (craigslist) and post a price and see... too bad you have to sell though..

If you can find the right buyer, that car will sell for what S&B posted... It's really, really nice.

It might take some time, but it will be worth the wait to sell it with everthing still attached.

I dont see you getting 8500 for it, but i dont think parting it out would be worth it either. Maybe take a few pieces off(gauges/rims) and replace with stock, but otherwise, i would leave it together.

You guys dont know your notches well, I searched for 2 years to find mine there are not many notches out there with 0 rust well maintained, and have black interiors. I paid 9,500 for mine.

My notch has similar miles and no rust. It does have a gray interior however and more new parts. My best guess is that the most i'll get for it is $4500 in the spring when i sell it.

Are you sure there is no rust, under the car anywhere ?????????

that is a very good price for a notch. but you do have a wing on it, that devalues it 5k

Thanks for the compliments guys. I obsessed over this car for the first 5 years I owned it (buying new parts as fast as I could)...then I just didn't do as much with it, but still kept it up. Fluid changes before they were really needed and always synthetic everything. I got to where I wouldn't even drive it in the rain. Oh, and I ran 110mph in the 1/4 mile before some of the final mods I made (ET stunk due to poor 60' time), so she's a 12 second car for sure.

The rims are real 93 cobras in great shape (only a couple blemishes). By parting out, I meant replacing the cobra rims, removing the gauges, and maybe even replacing the bolt-ons like heads & intake with the OEM parts I've saved.

I know when I went shopping for this car I wouldn't even look at one that was modded and certainly was willing to pay more for one that wasn't monkeyed with. So basically I know that the bolt-on parts don't increase the car's value and I could sell them separately or keep them around for another project down the road.

Any more thoughts/suggestions are welcome!

well before these replica wheels came out like 6 months or so ago those real cobras would be worth 1500 bucks or more, now you would need to find someone who really wants originals.

the car might fetch more in the current setup i would leave it alone and sell it as is.

Well what's going to happen if you put the car up for sale is you are going to get person after person after person telling you what KBB says the car is worth and lectuing you about it telling you that you want WAY too much.

Then after quite a long time you will find that one special person who is looking for what you are selling and willing to pay the asking price, and it's all up to you as to how long you want to wait to find that one person..

That is what happened with my car that I just bought as I was in no hurry and bought the car that is extremely similar to yours right down to the '93 Cobra wheels and Cobra suspension/brakes, except mines white.

If you do part it I would be interested in the intake and heads.

If I go through with this, I think I'll be interviewing prospecitve buyers so she doesn't go to some punk, after all I've done to preserve the car.

Depends on where you live will dictate price. Beautiful car. Around my parts, that car could easily sell for 8K. No problem. Who ever said clean notches are hard to find is right!!!

Remember, there's an a$$ for every seat!!

like everyone else says, if you wait to sell it then i could see you getting 8500 but if its not someone looking for a notchback forget about it. i looked for months for a clean notch and drove 2 hours just to look at the one i own now.

people love that bodystyle and there arent many as clean as yours, the black interior is a big plus btw. i wouldnt part it out thought cause if someone sees how well youve taken care of the car(which is obvious) then it wont matter if there are some go fast parts on it.

Update on selling the stang:

I do have to sell it, so I'm cleaning it up right now. Just to clarify, I never intended to sell the car part by part....just putting the OEM parts back on like the heads, intake, etc. Do you guys really think it wouldn't be worth more or at least the same if I remove the bolt-ons? Would appear less-molested? I figure these are worth $1700 at reasonable used prices.

I appreciate the input during this difficult time. I did succeed in keeping it 10 years though, and only adding 55K miles. It sure is going to be hard to let her go.

I've seen less sell for $8000.

When you say paint in "good" condition.

Does that mean when it's detailed or all the time. I know my 1990 red went to hell years ago and had to have it painted. It's not a color that stands up to time.
