The paint is in good condition all the time. In fact, you could describe it as excellent. The black trim typically looks terrible on these cars, but that has been repainted and looks good. It's waxed regularly...always has been since I've had it. These cars weren't clearcoated, so you have to stay on top of a red one, which I have. Some would say the hood could use paint, but the rest is in good condition, with few small blemishes overall. One small door ding, and NO rust.
The car was wet-sanded, starting with the hood, which resulted in a handful of small, dark spots from where it was sanded too thin on the hood only. A new cowl hood was planned then, which is why I started with the hood, but ended up having to axe that plan...then I just planned to paint the entire car one day, not just the hood [only for it to not match exactly].
I'm in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but will be bringing it downstate (outside Detroit) in a couple weeks unless someone arranges to come get it here. If I don't have a buyer within 3 weeks, I will leave it with my brother who lives there for him to show it until sold. I'm asking $10,500.
I'm still torn about whether to put some of the old parts back on or not. It's current setup is so much better than stock, but if it doesn't pay to throw in the parts, I'd rather keep them. Do you guys think this car would sell for the same amount with fewer bolt-ons?....w/out the heads, intake, t-body, Autometer gauges, and such? The opinion of many others who have seen it in person is that it has been very well done. All parts were chosen to match well, and thus, this car feels absolutely awesome to drive. Everything's tight. I know when I was looking for this car, I wanted one without mods.
