I have just found an 89 or 90 wrecked EFI 5.0 cobra. The damage is just to the right side of the car and the motor appears fine. I'm looking to swap a t-5 into my stock 65 289 green dot auto. I can get the car for about $1K. Could I get my moneys worth out of this car? I would take the whole tranny setup, but what about the motor? What could I get from it? Would it be worth stuffing into my car? My car is a daily driver, but I'm looking to run at least 13s when I'm done. What else could I get from this car? So, what would you do? Any advice/help is highly appreciated. Thanks a lot. :hail2: :hail2:

I just purchased an 88 GT and Im using the complete drivetrain. When Im done selling the usable parts that I wont be using I think I will break about even. Meaning I got the complete drivetrain from the 88 for free :D

When my 90' GT got totalled a little over a year ago, I had to buy my car back from the insurance company so I could get all my performance parts off of it to put on the new car. I paid them $1000 for it out of the $4000 they gave me for my car. So all of the sudden, I had a parts car. Not the way I would have wanted to get a parts car...... but whatever.
I started the long, tedious task of completely disassembling the car right down to the bare chassis. I ended up using the motor and a few other odds and ends, but still had tons of parts to get rid of. I have easily already made back my $1000 and still have the majority of the parts left. I sold alot of the stuff on Ebay, to friends, and other people like here on Stangnet when I hear they need a part.
So.... parting out a car can be a hassle, but there's definately money to be made doing it. Not only that, but when I need a part for my car, I usually have it in the garage. :D
Hope this helps!

By the way... there was no 89' or 90' Cobra, only the 93' (except in Canada).

a grand for a wrecked mustang is a little high. I picked up a wrecked 88 ssp 5.0 notch 5 speed with ponys, a new trans/clutch and good engine for $425. At a grand, though, you'll still make your money back. FYI, there is no such thing as an 89 or 90 cobra, 93 was the first year for the cobra. Unless you are in canada, then I think they named some of their mustangs cobras, which was simply a name.

Sorry to bring up a dead thread for a different reason, but all you guys who are parting out Stangs, I need some help...
I need 1 centercap from a Pony wheel...doesn't matter if its chrome or silver.
I need the fog light switch PLUG - the grey, two-wired part at the back of the switch, not down by the lights. I need the plug with about 2" of wire on it... I may be interested in the head/fog light switch as well. Please PM or e-mail me...
