back in march, i went through emissions and failed. hydrocarbons were high

i was planning on waiting till i was low on gas and then putting in rubbing alcohol and trying again. of course, i totally spaced out and filled up and didn't get any alcohol, so i was sure i was going to fail again.

then i had an idea ... my computer has been adding fuel in response to the adaptive strategy it uses in closed loop, probably because my injectors are rated for 43 psi but the rail pressure is actually closer to 40 psi. so i reset the computer real quick and went into the bay.

then came the moment of truth ... my HCs were 22 (anything below 175 passes) and the CO was .15 (anything below 1.00 passes)

thanks. it is running fine, but will probably go back to adding fuel before long as the computer does its thing.

Thats cool, when I failed emissions here, they gave me a sheet I had to have signed off by a repair shop in order ot even re-test again

They'd have a hard time making that one hold up in court. I don't see how they can require you to take it to a shop. I believe I'd fight that one.

Glad I don't have to deal with it here. Seasonal registration means I'm IM exempt!

they are in my first post. that is all that was on the sheet. perhaps they only check for the things that didn't pass the 2nd time around? i remember the original sheet also had a result for NOX
