Pi cams want to install them in my non pi heads can i do this with out changing spring, and also not takein gthe head off how herd is i have a shop class at school so tools are no problmem same wiht proffesional help thanks

Stock springs are fine for PI cams as they aren't too agressive of a cam. I installed PI cams myself - first time inside an engine btw. Just took my time using the long way to install by removing the front cover and accessories to get at the cams. The other method is to buy a cam removal tool from Ford. AFM also sells this tool, but have read that a few guys that have used it said that it's not as well designed as the Ford one. It's job is to relax the chain tensioners while keeping everything in place (keeps the engine in proper timing) so that you can remove the cam gear to take out the old cams and install new. Heads stay in place.

You can get PI cams new for just under $100.00/piece. With these ones, you need to remove the front cover as these are the pressed-on sprocket.

The other ones new are about $130.00/piece.

Used you can find them rather cheap. The gains I have seen are about 5 - 20 HP. You will feel the difference especially in the higher RPM's.

I recommend you do it the hard way and remove you front cover. Degree the cams to ensure that they were installed correctly.

I got my cams through a Ford dealer and paid if I remember correctly approx $250.00 for a new set although I'm sure you can get them cheaper today. For power I recieved between 10-15rwhp and also some torque gains along with it. As I said, I took my time did it over a weekend with removing the front cover (and accessories) it took me approx. 10 hours start to finish. 5 hours on a Saturday, then 5 hours on Sunday. Putting it together takes much less time than taking it apart. That includes cleanup also.

i couldn't agree with this more, although i'm sure many people will disagree with me. but i personally would never do that job again without physically seeing the timing lined up.
