PI intake require PI heads?

You can use a PI intake on non-PI heads. If you're running N/A, you could just as easily run a thick bead or RTV around all of the ports to ensure their seal. The '96-'98 guys as well as the T-Bird/Cougar guys have been doing this for a while now with great results. If forced induction is in your future, I'd suggest buying a set of adapter plates. Livernois sells them with their intake kit, but I've seen the on Ebay advertised before for less.

If your car is 99+ yes you have the PI intake and heads already. The 96-98 cars are the ones that were so lucky to get the crappy flowing intake and heads. There is a misconception with some newer (99-04) Mustang owners that the PI intake is an upgrade...these years already have the PI stuff.
no it shouldnt be. there arent any EGR passages in the intake manifold. just in the upper plenum. might be the DPFE sensor.1GtUnV said:

Yes you are correct i swapped the Intake a while back but i was just concerned after reading up more on this. Mainly ive been reading up lately because i have been contemplating doing the PI head swap, or possibly doing a head swap and a Cam swap. If i do what would these require/how much? Anyone have numbers?
do the head swap and add some VT stage I cams. you might as well do the cam swap while you have the motor apart.

if your gonna take the time to swap the heads, vt stage 1 is a good cam to go with...get some springs too while your in there. maybe even go with a ported and polished pi head set if you can afford it! i'd estimate a p&p'd head with vt stage 1 at another 40-50 hp. definately worth it.
