Pic Request: Coupe w/ GT/Cobra Ground Effects

Pleeeeaaaaase don't do it. Next time someone says it looks like a K car punch them in the face. If they don't appreciate a notch, their opinion doesn't matter. You would be ruining that car putting that junk on it imo. If you want that look, buy a GT.

I swear before I was into cars, let alone Mustangs, I thought the notches were boxy like the K cars :rlaugh: Now I am considering one for my next project

Who cares what they think. Put some sick wheels on it, lower it and give it a killer stance, leave the body stock, and then see what they say.

I'm looking for a few pics of a coupe with ground effects on it cuz I'm thinking about doing that to mine. I'm really tired of people saying it looks like a K car :bang: Anyone have any?

Thanks,
Frankie

So....you wanna make it look like a K car with ground effects?

:barf:Looks like Godzilla sat on the back of a GT.

I can see maybe using the front bumper fascia off of a GT on a notch - kind of the same look you've got going 88_SS_302_Coupe, sorta has a Mad Max thing about it - but throwing on the rest of the ground effects just doesn't go right with a notch. I agree, it looks like a screwed-up GT of some manner; I guess our eyes are just trained to seeing them on a hatchback model all of the time, so when the actual hatch, itself, isn't present, it just sticks out as an unpleasantly weird feature.

Photochop a GT front-end on a pic of a notch and see what you think of it. Otherwise, I wouldn't mess with it - it's been done, and (to my knowledge) has never quite looked right. However, GT cheese-grater taillights on a notch would be kinda cool, as long as they're painted to match. Black GT tail lenses on a black notch ... mmmmm... :nice:

I like the GT nose on a coupe because it's got an open track/trans am racing kind of feeling to it. The funny thing about it is, it doesn't sit any lower than the original '85 nose does. It gives an allusion like it does because the bottom of the nose comes out flush with the bumper part and makes it look bigger. Even the '87+ GTs don't come down any lower than a LX, they do the same thing.

Here's the stocker, notice how it's level with the bottom under the door:

Here's the Pacecar/'82 GT nose. Notice it's about the same level, it's really just the camera angle that makes it look any lower, also it plays with your head because it is a tad wider at the bottoms where it comes all the way out instead of puckering under like the stocker does:

Also in the second pic the car had been lowered, that makes it look lower as well. Look at the amount of bumper under the "body line" part on the nose. It's the same in the back by the tire, it just comes down more in the front than the stocker does.

Anyways, the reason i don't like full GFX on a coupe is because it's the simplicity of the coupe that makes it what it is....but hey, it's your car man rock on.

I'd have to say the Saleen is about as much as you could get away with, but i'm not real big on it either. It's ok because it's not as "big" around the sides and back, but a coupe with just a Saleen valance is HOT.

I had planned on grafting a Saleen lower valance to my '85 nose before i got my Pacecar nose.

i like the saleen kit on em. in fact in some mustang magazine they had a whole spcheal on saleen a while back and it had a pic of a f/e coupe all saleened out and it looked BOSS!

First: What's a "K car"?

Second: I'm dead set against ruining a smooth sleek Notch with ANY kind of add ons EXCEPT a cowl hood and in the case of four eyes, front ends like 85_SuperSexy has.

Anything else ---> :barf:

I think this guy needs some incouragement to keep his clean.....

*runs to find pics*

I LOVE the trans am racer look with the lower front valance and the regular LX side skirts. Slaeen kit looks good and the Cobra kit is good on GTs, but other than that not my cup of tea.

Justin Burcham had GT ground effects on his coupe running Real Street!
