I searched and didn't have much luck, but I was looking for some pictures of a 275/40/17 on stock GT wheels.

My Sumitumo's are nearing the end of their life, and I am thinking of switching back to my stock polished GT wheels, but I HATE the stock tucked look, and don't want to buy spacers.

I'm curious if a wider tire will make up enough of a difference to get the job done.

Thinking of going Nitto 555R's, or possibly General Exclaim UHP's to match the front.

If I stay with the Bullitt's I'll probaly run the Sumitumo's again, as they are CHEAP and have lasted through alot of hell. Possibly the 555R's for these rims also, I am tired of not hooking up.

Just click on my cardomain link in the sig for pics of mine,Im running that size on factory bullitts.
They Fuzion ZRi's...I hate these tires but the ford dealer put them on when I got it so they will do until they are dead then Ill prob go kdw's....or even Kumho's would be better than these,they are some slippery tires.

Well on dry pavement they are,but they do seem to stick good on wet pavement....

I just woke up. These are old pics and I can't remember if these were 285's or 275's but either way, they don't fill out the rear. Try some spacers if you go that route. I have 9in rims with 285's on now and they still don't fill out the rear. I suggest 10.5's with 315's. That's my next combo.

Heres 275/40/17 but on a 17x9 rim! The back is tucked a little so I can imagine the 17x8 is tucked quite a bit. Like he said 315's with deep dishes is the best way to go.

Thanks for the link and pics guys.

I am running DD Bullitts in the rear right now. The stance is near perfect with the 315's, but they are just so damn heavy, and I think the stock GT polished wheels look pretty good.

Looks like i'd definatly need spacers if I was going to run the stockers again. Oh well...

Any more pics would be great, nothing wrong with a little Stang whoring, lol.

Damn that looks good though. I had 275's on my stock wheels and they didn't fill out the wheel well at all. Now with my 10.5 fr500's and a 315 it looks amazing. This is the only pic i have. Yea i know the wheels don't match but thats what happens when you fall asleep driving home from a long weekend in myrtle beach and you kiss a curb

Yeah I guess the biggest factor is the wheel width and not just a wider tire on a stock wheel.

Yea, No i can't make it this year. I was stationed in Jacksonville NC for 4 years thats why i was also down there like every weekend but i'm out(of the marines) now so i'm back up here in good ole' Indiana. I'm definately going back next time i get a chance though. With wheel spacers you'll probably be able to get close to filling out the wheel well though.

no matter the size tire you run on your 8" wheels they will never fill that gap,you need either wheels spacers or a diff backspacing on the wheel if you really wanna go 8".i say the 10.5s look good,stick with them

Here is a pic of my 99 with 9"s on the rear. They filled out the fenderwells enough to match the front wells to look even but you need more offset to get the wheels out closer to the lips or 10.5 wheels.

wow - those 9" really fill out the back fenderwell nicely. I like the deepdish look, but the weight increase on the drivetrain is unacceptable to me. I'm probably going to go the route of a hubcentric wheel spacer. I'm not putting down enough power to justify gigantic width rims. I would like to upgrade to 9" at some point in time.

I agree with you stark I will be putting my 8" back on and using wheel spacers. Im looking for the lightest tires also.
