My 1998 GT starting pinging real bad when warmed up, switched gas, Check Engine Light Displayed. I put in premium gas, took it to the shop where they scanned for codes. The O2 sensor was bad which they replaced. Drove it to work today and when warm, at half throttle it pings!

Does it take some time for the computer to adjust to the new sensor?

What else could account for the pinging?
