Pinion Snubber and Spring Isolators?

I'm looking to drop my car in the next couple weeks with H&R SS with Bilstein HD's. The Maximummotorsports package looks like it has everything I need except it would be cheaper to buy the parts separately for me. My question is are pinion snubbers and spring isolators needed to drop the car safely and make sure the ride is smooth? I have an '00 GT with 73K on it. thanks for the input.

It is a good idea to get new spring isolators. And you will need a new lower pinion snubber. These items can be bought seperately very cheaply if you wish to piece out the kit to save some money. Another thing to get are some offset steering rack bushings to get the steering rack in better alignment with the new ride height (also cheap).

I say no, I just dropped my car wit the Eibach Pro Kit and didnt install the pinion snubber because I havent had time, but I dont think it makes any difference. The spring isolators were fine on my car (03 gt less then 10k miles) so I just left them. Some people even take out their isolators. I think yours will be fine, but you might as well get the pinion snubber. If Im wrong then somone correct me.

i didn't get a new pinion snubber either & reused the stock isolaters (about 5,000 mi on the car) everything is fine

I just talked to MM earlier this week with lowering questions. They said that the advertised drop on the H&R springs are WITH pu spring isolators. I think that he said another 1/4 inch is possible if you don't use them. I wouldnt recommmend not using any at all- reuse the stock rubber ones if you have to. As for the pinion snubber and all that I have no idea.

I did not change out my isolators either, but if I knew about them I would have. And you may never need the lower pinion snubber either -- but you may wish you have changed it if you ever really bottom the car out. I don't necassarily disagree with any of the above post to not bother with these items -- but considering how these items only cost a few dollars and are very easy to change out, I think it is being a bit frugal to not do it. That is just an opinion, though.

I have heard of people leaving out their isolators, so people do leave them out. However when I lowered my vert, I replaced the stockers with prothane isolators, anyway. Like someone mentioned above the cost of these items are relatively cheap, so you might as well replace them.

1) Yes, people do leave them out to lower their cars a touch more. From what I understand, though, this frequently results in a squeak later on when going over bumps.
2) I wish somebody would have suggested prothane isolators when I did mine. Good call.

My H&R Supersports came with a shorter pinion snubber. I replaced my stock one with it. If you don't and you start hearing a loud thumping noise in the rear everytime you hit a bump, then maybe you should replace it.

I didn't feel that I needed to replace my isolators but I did.
