Hi All,

I ran into the common issue of the original all-plastic intake manifold breaking, and need to have it replaced. Given that my car is more than 17 years old, I decided to replace all hoses and gaskets that need to be touched during the process. I’m Hungarian, I don’t know the English names of all the parts that look worn, so I asked my mechanic to point at them and I took some photos. Someone please take the time and list the names of these hoses, or if they can not be replaced on their own then the name of the part containing that hose.

It would be extremely helpful, thanks in advance! I’m also happy with a partial answer.

Do make sure that any of the hoses in your pictures are approved for vacuum use, as they can potentially be exposed to both fuel and oil vapors. Also, take your pictures to the parts house when you go, as they can usually identify them by location. Your pictures will come in handy for that.

Thanks for the responses, guys! There is very little support for my car here in Hungary, so unfortunately it's not like I walk into the parts store and get whatever I need for my car. I can source them through the official channel, but for twice the price, so I tried to find out what I need on sites like AM, LMR, CJ, even eBay, but I'm stuck. Anyway, hopefully I'll be able to fix my car by replacing just the hoses themselves.

If anyone happens to know the name of the part that is connected to the cold air intake and the idle air control and looks like two black boxes put together (visible on pics 2, 3, 4), please drop a line here. Thanks!

1. Is a vacuum line not sure exact name (maybe hvac heater?)
2,3 pictures are the vacuum hoes for the idle air control(IAC) valve. The box in the middle is a silencer? Maybe?
4,5 are the positive crank vintilation(pcv) hoses, the actual elbow you're pointing to is just a rubber hose you can replace with anything that fits.

Also uploaded a picture of the vacuum line diagram.

Hi All again,

I now have almost all the parts that I need, however one of the retailers that I ordered stuff from forgot to add the idle air control gasket to the package... I need to have that replaced too because I want the IAC cleaned, but I don't want to wait weeks again until the gasket arrives, so I would like to have it custom made here and use that, at least until the factory part finally makes it here. It looks pretty simple in design, but does anyone know how I could find a blueprint with the exact dimensions? Also, what material is it made of and how thick is it? Part number is E83Z-9F670-A. I could use the image found here: http://www.cjponyparts.com/ford-idle-air-control-gasket-1986-2004/p/HW2683/ and measure the width of the surface of the IAC where the gasket sits, but that would mean I can not have the gasket manufactured until my mechanic takes the engine apart, i.e. I can't prepare it up front. It satisfies for a plan B though.

Thank you in advance!

The gasket fits perfectly on that I'll include a picture with the dimentions I took on mine( you're from Hungary so I did metric for you) but my gasket material feels like a thick paper so I'm not really sure how to discribe the material but construction paper might hold till you get a gasket

Thanks again. Really liked the conversion to metric :) I'll turn to a gasket specialist, they'll surely pick the right material for the purpose.
