Which ones will make more power?

I am trying to stay away from the GT40P's because of the fact I do not want to have to buy new headers because I am trying to keep the cost low.

I am trying to decide the next mods to do to my car and I am going to either port my stock heads/intake or get GT40 heads/intake and have them ported.

Thanks for any help!

EDIT: And also, how much power will non-ported GT40's make?

The ported GT40's will make more power. My ported E7's flow as much as an out of the box GT40.

Ported gt-40's will flow quite a bit more than ported e7's. and the stock intake is horrible...gt-40 has much more potential especially if its ported. I've heard a ported gt-40 intake flows as well as a trickflow or eddy intake!

Good to know, how much does Tmoss charge for a port job on the upper/lower explorer intake?

And would it be good to run one on a stock motor? Or should I just keep the port job for later?

tmoss only does the lower intake to my knowledge. When he ported my GT40 lower a few years back it ended up being around $120 with shipping but that was a few years back. PM him and he'll let you know how much he would charge.

Thanks for the help! I am trying to figure out exactly how much it will cost to do a heads/intake swap if I can get the heads for $250 and the intake for $150.

it seems to end up being twice as much as you think.

when doing a HI you might want a new timing chain.

dont forget oil, gaskets, plugs, filters, coolant, hoses, head bolts, that socket you cant find, etc etc

little things add up to a big thing fast.

Yea I calculated it up and even buying used parts it is going to end up costing me quite a bit.

Plus I have never worked on a car, aside from this one I own now which I have done everything to, and have no idea how to install cylinder heads...let alone a cam! The intake would be no problem though.

Yes it does. My HCI project has a budget of $2000 and I've gone over that a little bit. Roller rockers $200, cam $170, well built GT-40Ps $800, lifters $120, SFI balancer $130, Explorer upper & lower $150, used P headers $150, 26 pound injectors $100, misc parts and gaskets $200, dyno tune and chip around $450.

If I had gone all "top of the line" instead of budget I can easily see spending twice that.
