Ported Perfromer RPM? or just get RPMII?

Right now I have a Perfromer. I am planning to send the lower to TMOSS. I have also thought of getting the RPM upper. Should I just get the RPMII? I have TFS heads on a 306 in a lightened strip/street car?

Tom says that just porting the lower will give me as much top end but will have more bottom end. I belive him, it's just that I have thought of the RPM upper, which is highly recomemded. This will cost me a little over $450, so would I be better off selling the Performer as is and putting the money towards the RPMII? ...or a simailar intake such as the SystmaxII.

Talk to your cam grinder about which you need for your goals. How much low end you have is NOT just directly related to the manifold you choose, its in the valve events. I remember seeing a TW headed 302 with a TFS r intake and a buddy rawls custom grind. It made GOOD torque down low.

I say use the rpm II and a GOOD custom cam to match and you'll have a runner. I also think a ported rpm will be a runner too but it'll cost ya more. Talk to a cam grinder first and work out your combo/goals. Us here on stangnet are just giving you good guesses

Do whichever costs less. Too bad you don't have the money to get both, dyno them both and sell the one that makes less average power. I've had customers do that - and the results of one are on my website.

The performer is a proven intake, no doubt, the RPM upper was just an extention of that for those who want a little more top end, while the RPMII, Edelbrock improved on it further.

If I only get the Perfomer ported, I think I could probally sell it for more as a Tmoss ported Performer for more than a regular Performer if I chose to go larger. I could get the RPM upper and sell it seperatly, so maby I'm not really looking at a real loss here.

If it even matters...I would port the Performer...with the right cam the car will pull hard from 3000 to 6000 RPM...do you plan on shifting higher...? you have money invested into your bottom end? You don't need an intake that outflows the heads...You need an intake that provides the constant powerband...

I guess Ed gives different advice to people in Chicago than he does to people in NY...YOU guys must have some thin air up there requiring the bigger intakes...

I'd like to know how a ported Performer competes with an RPM II intake...?

Greg, I was asking Ed for a 6500 rpm 302 combo that will pull hard. Not a sub 6000 rpm car with good torque down low. There is a LOT of street action here in NY. Honestly, I haven't been in the street scene as much anymore, but all my friends are. I am helping my friend put the finishing touches on the 306 combo he's doing. An rpm II will sit on top of it. I suspect the car will definatly win me a few bucks on the street for sure You and bob should drive down here and i'll give you a car and the brake against my buddys 306

Hey now...don't be knockin on my Cobra intake powered 306...Tmoss ported it...so you're gonna have to deal with him...

Yeah...it would be an interesting race...as long as your friends cars are infact 306's...I'm suppose to dyno the car as soon as we get done with my buddies 4.6L head swap...so hopefully I'll have some results on the kind of power the beast is making...

I don't know all the AIM names of people...I e-mailed them...so hopefully I can be reinstated...I've had the same AIM name for years now...
