whats up fellas? just wondering if porting the stock intake manifold and stock heads are worth it? also how much time and money will it costs, and the HP increase estimate depending on my sig? thanx-brian
Try useing the search button with key words like "stock heads", "stock E7TE", "stock intake" and such. This subject has been covered a couple dozen times.
Search around - fella just posted that he used this guide to home port his GT40P's and got very nice numbers out of them. tmoss can do the port job for you on the stock lower manifold - to really make it work well, some welding is required on the backside of the dogleg in the #1 and 5 runners I believe. Best left to Tmoss.
I did a home port job on my stock heads and stock lower and upper intake. Those were also my first attept at porting and after doing that it took my old 87 GT Convert from a 14.0 at 97 mph to a 13.6 at 99 mph.
Thanks, But, I though going from a 97mph to a 99mph trap was only about 20 hp or so. I was told about 10 hp for every 1 mph (round about). The Et. was from it getting a little better 60ft I think.. BTW.. Im just right across the Clark bridge from you by Alton, IL...
Porting your heads if you have the time, energy, and equipment can be a good hp:$$ increase. I have read many places that just grinding down the EGR bumps is worth 20hp alone, kind of like a fart can and cold air kit with all nessasary stickers on a civic.
I run Thumper heads with stock valves and upgraded springs, not too slow IMO, but I could be faster. (no such thing as a car too fast.)
