Powdercoated wheels better than painted ones for durability?

Hi guys,

I'm working graveyard tonight and looking at wheels to get. I really like AFSwheels.com 's Cobra R replicas package that have two 17 x 8 and two 17 x 10.5 with silver powdercoating. Is this more durable stuff than just regular painted rims? Also do you think this 17 x 8 and 17 x 10.5 are a good combo?

P.S. Are Kuhmo tires any good?

Greeting and good morning (argh, gotta go to bed soon!) fellow 02 Black GT owner!!! (Black is beautiful, isn't it?!)
Powdercoating is definately more durable as it is sprayed on as a powder and clings to the wheel via a static (electrical) charge - then it is baked on and dries hard as rock. It is more chip and chemical resistant and easier to keep clean. If I had my choice, I'd go with powdercoating for sure. I think the 17X9 and 17X10.5 would be a better combo. Good luck!

Oh, and based on some info from fellow stangnet member just this evening, Kuhmos suck! My wife's 01 GT had them on the front and they seem to have a mind of their own. They tried to follow any little rut in the road. IMO, there are better tires. The Nitto 555 and 555R (drag radial) are popular. My wife's 01 wears Bridgestone RE-750s now on Cobra R 17X9s all the way around. I have a pic posted in the 99+ gallery.
