Power rating on 86 5.0

afr 165's and holley systemax II heads i would say are pretty close.

With a little work the holley could out flow the afr's and they are a direct bolt on. Seems like a lot less work to get them to flow as well as the afr's then to do all the valve clearence cutting in the pistons.

The TFS heads flow more like the AFR 185s than the 165 and require no notching of the pistons for the 86 flat tops.

Well I dissagree with your dissagree and will 2nd the comment that there are no better looking cars than the one shown, however the 85 5 speed is more desireable in my opinion. I would take an 86 over an 85 auto though. The 85 5 speed mustang brought ford from seeing chevy's taillights to seeing chevy in the rear view mirror. In the 5L car wars anyway. I think the looks of the 85-86 4 eyes are far superior to the 87+. However they are all great cars and I like them all so I am not putting down any fox Mustang. It is hard to find faults on the 85 is all. Ok brakes, 7.5 rearend but that can be easilly remedied. LONG LIVE THE 85-86 MUSTANG.

I had an 86 t-top gt and after puting late model heads (salvage $50), intake & injection(salvage $75) it ran pretty darn good!!! But the t-top seals leaked so bad, you could take the t-tops off in the rain and you would stay dryer. So if the motor is your biggest consern buy it
