What is required to take my 70 Coupe (Mainly a street/strip car) from a P/S to a manual steering vehicle?

It is a built 357c/ Aussie 2v head car, going for 12.0 on motor and low 11's on spray. I need to drop a few pounds, and get rid of the setup. The pump is new as are the lines if anyone wants to buy it :D

I'm also on a budget... any suggestions?

When I did my 67 I had to change my drag link, idler arm, pitman arm and I put new inner/outer tie rods in because my were shot anyways. The steering box should work either way. The only difference between the power/manual boxes is the turn ratio which I believe is 16:1 vs a 19:1 or something like that.

i have the one above and it works great.

10secgoal found a less expensive one for around 60.00? but you use your existing one and just rebuild it for manual steering. it wasn't that difficult after we figured it out.

PM 10secgoal to get the name of it and where he bought it from:SNSign:
Yah CJ pony sales them but there web site is down so i cant link to the part.
I like the first one better becouse it is easy and you can go back easy if you change your mind easy.

Well with this car, I don't see myself ever going back to conventional power steering. The only steering change I may make is a Flaming river rack, but that won't be for a long time.

For now I just need to unclutter the engine bay a little more and get rid of a power robbing system.

The car gets driven maybe 1500 miles a year, and is a summer only car that gets covered the rest of the year, (Except for occasional good weekends). My only problem now is getting a pulley system to work out.

I also need a new alternator. My 100 amp system has just about reached it's max, and with the addition of a Mark VIII Fan in exchange for my old setup, and the addition of a second Fuel pump for a high octane cell while on nitrous... I need a little more.

Anyone think 130 wouldn't be enough for a Mark VIII fan, two electric (We'll say holley blues) fuel pumps, MSD Dig 6, MSD Window Switch, nitrous setup, no stereo, and just standard lights at night?
