My pass window doesnt go up smoothly and sometimes will get bogged down so muxch itll stop a little more than halfway up. Ive tried greasing the tracks and everything, adjusting the motor. I finally took the motor assembly out today and on the back of the big arm that goes to the slider there are two studs that are on it. ONe has a slot in it and the other is a stud with a head on it. Is a spring suppose to go there that im missing or whats up? I cant believe they are there for no reason.

thanks

Drew

Drew, I dont know but want to offer a word of caution. I dont know if earlier foxes had preloaded window regulators but many cars do. And you dont want to mess with that thing - it can eat your hand. Be very cognizant of what you remove and how (I use vices, locating pins, etc when working with them).

Just be careful man. Bump

mine doesnt have a spring but like you said ive heard some do come with them. I talked to a local ford perf shop and they said that they really dont aid the window when the motor is lifting it up. anybody else have any input?

You are definitely missing a spring. *edit* Because I HAVE the spring, my window goes DOWN SLOW, and goes UP FAST. But I know the spring is supposed to be there. Let me know if you want one. Here's a pic:

Actually I believe THAT is a passenger side unit. I don't remember why I bought it. I'll sell it to you cheap, if you can't find one locally.

Sure! $5 and probably $4 for shipping (Priority Mail). Or I can use another carrier if you want. Good luck getting in on though... PayPal goes to superhuaman@msn.com, you can also email me there for my address to send a money order. Glad I could help!

Not to hi-jack or anything, but I've also been having window trouble. What makes one squeel really bad when rolling up? I also think I'm in need of a new motor, it's getting slower, but when you rev the car it'll go a little faster lol. I've already replaced the driver side, so here goes another $65.

Don't worry about it. Squealing is usually from the glass rubbing on the rubber channel. Sometimes you can revive the rubber with silicone spray, but usually it is dried out and must be replaced. When you rev your car, the charging voltage goes up a little bit. Those window motors are very sensitive to voltage and voltage drop, especially when they get some age. I have found that a bigger alt helps sometimes as well (more current at idle). Sometimes the door wiring will go bad as well, but it is hard to find without tearing it out. A few of the strands will break, and the current capacity of the wire is reduced, resulting in a slower motor.

I'll try the silicone spray. But I figured it might be from something adjusted too tightly against the window? Is it the rubber that's on the door panel or inside the door? I plan to replace both the window motor and alternator as soon as I get some funds

It can be the rubber on the door panel or the rubber on the outside of the window (at the trim), but it is most likely the rubber track that the glass rides in. You can always tell if it is dried out.
