Hey all,

I just picked up a '93 five-speed 4cyl notch and the power windows are out. I have no idea where to start with fixing this, can someone point me in the right direction?

I did a search but either used crummy keywords or the topic hasn't been discussed much.

Thanks for any help. It'll be a long road, and several of you will get to know me well... :D

Check all of your fuses, get a repair manual or find one online so you know what fuse you should be looking at.

Do you hear anything when you press the button? Like the motor's spinning but the window's not moving? If the motor's spinning and not moving the window then it's probably the nylon bushing in the motor, very easy fix.

If you don't hear anything, remove the door panels and measure the voltage across the two wires going to the window motor. The voltage should reverse polarity when you change the direction of the window switch. If you have no power there at all, and your fuses are good then it's time to whip out a wiring diagram. I don't have one handy right now, so check that first and get back to us.

If you have power at the motor, and it reverses polarity when you change the direction of the window switch, but you still don't hear anything, then I would expect the motor's brushes to be bad.

Do you have power locks, if so, do they work?
