powerdyne BD11a belt snap/come off, any suggestons.

Ok, I had this supercharger installed and it worked flawlessly for several hundred miles. I got on the car hard one night in 2nd, let off and got on it hard again, next thing I know the belt is tangled in my main belt and im stuck on the side of the road. Well got it all lined out, new belts on, drove the car 50 miles, on my way home I pulled off to check em, they are ok, I decided to pull some doughnuts in an empty parking lot, I do 2 of em, next thing I hear is a clanking noise, sure enuff the belt is snapped and flapping under the hood,This time it looks like it snapped, the ends are all frayer luckily i didnt get stranded, Any ideas for what I need to look for????

Pully alingment and / or belt tension.

I lean more towards belt tension because it seems to me, when you lift is when the belt is coming apart.

everything looks lined up perfectly, do you think I have it too tight or too loose?? The last time I put a belt on the tensioner was almost at max tightness, does there need to be some slack?? With it at almost max tension there was about 3/4 inch of play in the lower side of the belt

It's almost like the belt is getting more tension when you lift off the pedal. I am still trying to figure out how that could happen in my mind though. (is that even possible?)

A while ago I had some problems throwing belts, but a couple of bolts on the accessories where loose. I doubt that is your problem.

Maybe when you lift, the pressure is too much and it momentairly freezes the blower pulley?

Well I didnt know if getting on the pedal hard, having to let off then going back in the pedal hard again would be a culprit or not. I may need to recheck all my bolts, that could be a problem. Im going to call powerdyne tomm and see if they have any suggestoins on the problem. Im leaning towards the possiblity that I may have had the belt to tight this last time

I got another belt on now, during idling you can see flex in the lower side of the belt, I have it tightened to where there is no more than 1 inch of flex on the lower side, when i rev the car up you can still see flex in the belt, shouldnt it tighten up and run smooth during this?? The belt has a flappy look to it also which is probably due to the air from the fan

Under load the belt should be tight, with maybe a little slop / play buy nothing really noticable to the eye.

I don't like the fact that your fan can move the belt around either. Very strange indeed... (I've lost all hope of being helpful in this thread)

I just assumed that the air from the fan was helping it flop around. I bought this unit used, I wonder if it could be time for a rebuild??? Maybe the supercharger itself is causing the flop in the belt because it's not turning smoothly?? I think a call to powerdyne tommorrow will be the first thing i do
