I have the chance to buy a 9psi satin supercharger by powerdyne. i was wondering if any of you had any exp with them. need to get details on exactly which one he has. says it's in the box never been used for $1600. from what i seen on their website sounds good to me. anybody that can offer some help would be great. also do you have to use higher octane gas or can you get away with reg? thanks in advance.

i want to get that s/c system because i dont want to deal with tapping oil lines to my oil pan... looks like a decent system... but for 93 i would assume so... really depends on ur timing... tune it correctly i guess u could get away with it... but u wont get everything u want out of the system... but i could be wrong... someone else should chim in

I run a BD-11A I believe it is called. Just on 6psi and I love it. Bought it used for $720 shipped and only had afew minor things to buy. Makes great power over 3k-3500 and just keeps pulling. I will be getting a tune for it within the next couple weeks(which I suggest you do) so I dont have any problems and it runs 100%. Good luck :flag:

I have a powerdyne and my pleasure with it is deminishing. I had the internal drive belt break 2 times under warranty, and the 3rd I sent it out for a race rebuild. The first time it broke was with the 6lb pulley, and the others with the 9lb. I am also runing a 7" crank pulley instead of the 6" that came with the kit. Power was good though. The track times in my sig were with the 6lb pulley and I was making about 7lbs of boost at 5600 rpms. After I put the 9lb pulley on I put the car on the dyno for a few base pulls. The power numbers are in my sig. That was with the AFR so rich it was of the chart past 5200rpms. the tuner said with the AFR corrected it would be around 350-360. Well while I was saving for a tune the belt went out again. This time I sent it to www.928motorsports.com for a race rebuild, and a smaller pulley. When I got it back and had the break in miles done I was getting 10lbs of boost at 5000rpms, but the tune was still too rich. So while I was waiting for my tune I ended up blowing a head gasket which im going to fix this week. When I get it tuned I will post the new numbers. this race rebuild has new high speed ceramic bearings and a full kevlar internal belt. The factor rpm limits for the powerdyne are 38,000-40,000 rpms for the impeller. Now the limit is 60,000 and my current set up is for a max of 46,000 rpms. I know that if this belt breaks then Ill replace it my self but Im buying a NOVI -2000 tuner kit next. I bought the powerdyne because I thought my car would just stay a stock cruiser with some boost, and now I wish I had just bought a vortech or novi to begin with. I am completly hooked on boost and I thought I would be happy with a small amount. If your the kind of person who is easily addicted then you may want to go with somehthing else. Oh, 1 more thing. Powerdynes service sucks. Each time they had my charger they had it for 5-6 weeks. When I had the race rebuild done I had it back in 15 days.

Well on ebay they sell the Powerdyne "Kit" Its nice they give you a FMU and 190 pump, but I was under the impression that the stock 19# injectors would make it run hella lean. Besides youd really need at LEAST injectors, TB, MAF and optionaly intake mani maybe heads to get the best outa it. But mostly the injectors.....if you run to lean BOOM!

Powerdyne blowers... well not much I can say here besides whats been said.

They break belts, bad customer service, and their potential is lower than other blowers.

Anyone here who thinks tapping the oil pan for a return line is hard hasn't really tried it. Took me 15 minutes the very first time I ever attempted and it actually turned out to be one of the easiest parts of the install. DO NOT BE AFRAID of an oil return line.

Powerdyne is "alright" but never a blower I would spend 1,600 on.. for that price you can do it right and a vortech or novi...

Oh, run 93 octane because its to risky to chance your car over 20 cents ya know? And you can get away with 19lb injectors IF the mods on ur car are minimal. Ive been running 8lbs of boost with a larger fuel pump, fmu, and 19lb injectors for a year now and no problems.

My dad bought his 94gt because it had a blown engine and powerdyne with the internal belt broken and the guy who owned it couldn't afford to fix it. We put in the 345hp gt40x crate motor and had the powerdyne fixed and haven't had a single problem since and that was 5 years ago or so. Car has put down 400rwhp.

I'd thought about purchasing one, but reading that it wouldn't be able to support more than about 9psi without exceeding its safe rpm limit, I've decided that when I go blower, it will probably be with either a s-trim, or a Novi 2000...

you also have to consider how much you're expecting from your setup, if you never spin it higher than 6k, and you're not expecting huge gains, go ahead. But, if you want something that you can swap pulleys on, and get another few ponies, get a vortech or paxton or even an ATI...

S-Trim! I will be buying a supercharger for my car within the year and I cant justify saving 250 bucks to get the powerdyne when you can get an s trim vortech for 1850. Vortech has been around forever, they're the most reliable, and they make real good power. The S trim is a proven blower! Tapping the oil pan as someone else above said shouldnt take more than 20 minutes and you'll know for sure that system will always work. good luck man

As far as power gains per pound of boost I feel that the Powerdyne is probrably on par with the other entry level blowers. NA my car was running 13.50's to 13.70's. Once I got the blower on I mostly ran the 1/8 and sand bagged the top end. Most of my 1/8 mile times are 8.1's and 8.2's at almost 86 mph. That converts to around 12.5 to 12.7 in the 1/4. My highest trap speed was 109.01 This was with the 6lb pulley so had I not had problems with the belt breaking I would have been quite happy. I have to other friends that had belt problems, but once they were fixed it never happened again. They were also using the factory 6" crank pulley. The way the blower is now I make over 3 lbs of boost at just 2500 rpms.

I hated mine. I had it professionally rebuilt twice, and broke several of the internal belts, all within a few thousand miles. This was with the 9lb pulley, which actually only made around 7psi. I got rid of it and bought a Vortech. You would be better off to spend the 1600 on a SC-trim Vortech. Or if you can swing it, buy an s-trim

i was thinking of a supercharger as well. But the more i read up on them they all seem to have there problems. So i amjust going to spray my car. Way cheaper and bigger gains in the long run. Superchargers are cool because there on all the time though.
