WOW, this went up more than $20 since I bought it...... Sadly it is well worth it. don't even try to hardware bolt this

Should have the welder in the garage tomorrow. Orders from LMR and Summit as well. Provided I can get that **** out, should be able to reassemble the front of the engine this weekend.

Remember that the long bolts pass through the water passage so the threads on those should have Teflon sealer on them. Same stuff you use on the lower head bolts / studs. I would the silver anti-seize on the other ones. Also, chase the threads in the block with a tap as this will help with them torquing up properly.

I bought a new bolt, but do I reuse this little bracket on the cam sprocket? Or no since the new is balanced? Also, on a stockish engine, any reason to alter the timing at the crank?

OK. So I can't find any info on this here or the web in general.

This thing was on the front of the cam sprocket:

It has a tab that locates it in the dowel hole. Also the rotation axis of the sprocket that was on there is eccentric. The new one is not:

What does that mean to me at this juncture? Nothing? Bolt it up with the new and send it?

Nevermind. I'm an idiot. It just looks eccentric because of the way it's machined. But the question still stands if I need this add'l washer with the bend in it.

That thing is called an oil slinger. If you Google that term you'll find info on it. I'd put it back on. Just make sure the nub on it doesn't contact the dowel pin and keep it from sitting flush.

Degree the cam. Never hurts and it’s free hp at this point.

I do not have that slinger on any of my SBF’s but it’s there so bolt it up.

Another way to get additional oil on the timing chain is to drill a very small hole in the oil galley plug so it sprays oil on the chain. Google is your friend here.
