Maybe you guys can help..The car is a 94 cobra. I've reset a few keyless entry systems b4 but never ran into this problem. If you're not familiar you short the prongs on the open connector coming from the keyless box. Anyway, the prongs will not short. I've tried everything from a screwdriver to a fuse to copper wire. I'm getting 5 volts to the connector, but no luck with the trip. Can anyone shed some light?

Have you checked that the fuse to the keyless system is not blown? Is the car set up for keyless entry, from the factory? If both of those are good, it should be just as easy as what you are doing.

The key is in the ON position when i'm trying to trip the connector. I haven't checked the fuse physically, since I don't have the owner's manual to know which one it is-but I did check the connector with a volt meter and i'm getting juice. If someone could help with the location of the fuse, I'll check it. Thanks

Ok so I've checked the fuse and everything looks good. Any other ideas? The rke module itself is good for a fact. I just took the neg. terminal off to clean posts- before that it was working fine. Thanks again for all the help.

I thought that method only worked with 98 and ups?
IM not sure, but my Escort is a 97. The Keyless entry remote is the EXACT same (model number and all) The ONLY difference b/t the 2 is that the Mustang keyless remote has a pony on it. Since my Stang has an alarm, I was able to use the stock keyless entry remote as a spare for my Escort DD.

I agree with RC.

I was at the local Ford dealer a while back getting a diagnostic done and I asked them if they could also reset my keyless cause it didn't work. The manager hopped in and did exactly what RC described for free.
Actually, when I set the old one..the new one stopped working...I went to a DODGE dealer that has a svc mng that came from Ford...he hopped in and did BOTH for me...no charge

Just try that.
