Professional Products intake plennum vs. Accufab...

Hi guys, I was just thinking of purchasing an afermarket intake plennum and throttlebody. Can you guys advise me on what you think is the best setup.
I have an AFM power pipe, Vortech V2, and Bassani / Magnaflow exhaust. I think that stock plennum is really robbing me of some extra power.
The Accufab throttlebody and plennum look great. However, $500 dollars is just insane. I found a place where I can get the 75mm Professional Products throttlebody and plennum for $199 total.
What are your thoughts?

I just figured, 75mm is 75mm. Why pay $300 more for the same size.

i would stay away from pp they suck there manifolds are expensive and dont seal 4.6 and 5.0 guys have a lot of complaints about there products I went with bbk for my tb and plenum and love it

Eh, sorta. Some of their products suck hard....

BUT!!! Their throttlebodies and plenums are top notch IMO. I have their 75mm throttle body and it has held up to snuff for sure.

for that $199, are they polished? I got polished tb/plenum coming from Ebay for $230 total.

Well, I put an Accufab 70mm TB/Plenum in my 2003 GT AUTOMATIC and it was a major mistake.
I had RPM hangs and all my midrange power/torque was gone.
Put back stock and all was fine.
Also my Accufab had some minor pitting which was not visable.
Others are not so lucky.

Seeing as a good number of blown GT's are doing fine with the stock system, I say save your $$$$$$$$$$$$$

not when it comes to plenums...

A stock ported plenum will get you the same amount of HP gain as a $400 Accufab setup. Lets face it folks, we are getting RIPPED when it comes to plenums. Port and polish the stocker, get a 75mm TB, and call it a day. That way your not throwing money away!

Power wise, they're all about the same. It all depends on if you want something that was made in CHINA installed on your car. There's no way i would put CHINA stuff on my car if i don't have to even if it costs twice as much.

Also, look a little harder and you will see that you can get the Accufab combo for under $400.

China = Mexico = Canada = USA

All countries make good parts and bad parts just like anywhere else.

Why the negativity towards China?

What really matters is the specifications the parts are manufactured to, not where they are made.

I should have bet money on this one. How did i not know you would say something about my post.

I've had a lot of bad luck with the things they make and i know I'm not the only one. I'm a believer in "you get what you pay for." You know there's a difference in the quality with that big a difference in price. They had to cut some corners somewhere during the manufacturing process.

They might make a few decent things, but I'm not going to buy car parts from them.

Guys, thanks for all the info. I thought about porting out the stocker, but that sounds like a pain in the butt. And, I would still have to add a throttlebody to make it worth while.
The only reason I'm interested in upgrading these parts is because I have a powerpipe with a supercharger. I looked at the how-to steps to port out the stock plennum and realized that it really is a restrictive piece of junk, especially on a superchaged car.
I called up Brothers Performance to order their 75mm TB and plennum. They told me that they quit making their version of the plennum because they had some issues with it. The salesman reccomended a much better setup suggesting the Professional Products parts. He claimed that it worked better and cost less. I got the TB and Plennum both polished for about $250.
I know a guy locally that runs the Professional Product setup and he loves it. So I'm giving it a try.

I'd also skip on the PP made in China crap.
I have read on here folks having problems with the
PP throttle bodys sticking and the coating on the
PP plenums are well known to crack and peel.
On the other hand the Accufab plenums and throttle bodies
are of excellent quality and will give you more power than
the PP stuff.

I Have the PP TB and had the PP Plenum until I upgraded it with a P-51.

Both pieces are good quality and fitment.

Accufab rules

I love the response I got out of my Accufab 75mm TB/plenum combo. When I installed them at the same time with the K&N FIPK, it was like a different car. The Accufab plenum is a really well put together piece of equipment. You can see why it costs so much when you compare it with the others, although the performance increase is apparently only 1 or 2 Hp greater than the others. I got mine for under $400 at AmericanMuscle.com. Down the road I want to get the polished aluminum BBK valve covers. With the polished plenum/TB and the valve covers, it should wake up that engine compartment a little. Best of luck.

There is nothing wrong with the Professional Products throttle body or plenum setup.

Yes, SOME 5.0 guys have had issues with their throttle bodies in the past. Are we using a 5.0 TB...? no.

Yes, they are made in China and their castings are probaly knock offs of larger companies. Will I put that on my car? Hell yeah.

Ive seen pitted Accufab plenums that made it look like someone dropped acid on them.

Point is, every company has a few bad apples in a batch get loose.

I love buying lower cost functional parts as well as used parts, because now the game in the auto industry is to rip people off price wise and not all of us have deep pockets.

I have the PP 75mm TB and its top notch, very smooth. I knew someone with the polished TB and setup and again, looked GREAT and worked great also.

really have to ask about chinas quality control?

I read about PP TBs sticking, but never seen it happen or know a person that it happened to. I have an Accufab TB, and trickflow plenum that I'm pretty happy with. the difference in power is negliable, go with that you want.
