Here's a progress shot of the hood work - I got about 4 pm's asking how things were going and figured this could answer them all in one response.

I'm very stoked, I had not planned on the silver accent on top of the hood that you'll see in the pics. However, my buddy doing the work suggested I do something for a little added touch and we taped this on the raw hood when I first dropped off. It looked good in tape and said go for it, but when I stopped to see the progress today I totally lost it. It looks so dang good I don't have words. I've painted a lot of parts over the years (a whole body kit for this car) and not one time have I gotten this excited about it. 3 more coats of clear going on today to make the silver seamless to the touch. Then a final wetsand.

Glenn, yours should be getting started on tomorrow or Monday.

I was one of the guys wondering...Looks really good Erin...can't wait to see the finished product at World of Wheels! Will really be a one of kind. Let me know if you can get me any tics before I buy some.

The hood...can't wait to get the Eleanor hood...I am stoked too!!! Let me know when you need more cash.

The clutch...wait till you see the kevlar disc on this stage 2+...can't wait to put the hammer down on this!

Thanks for the props thus far, I know alot of people thought keepin her all black was the answer, but I think once she's together, most will agree a little break up was a good thing. I'm really stoked with it and it it's not even done..
 
Actually I don't do it for a living. I work for ATT as an Area Manager over 21 remote diagnostic switch technicians. Wrenching is more of a hobby for me. The mechanical comes natural from my old hot rod days of not wanting to pay rediculous labor and being forced to figure things out on my own.

About 6 years ago I ran a sport bike repair and customization business from my home called E & S customs. Stayed crazy busy for about 4 years working ATT during the day and wrenching bikes off hours until the city found out and put a stop to all that fun.

Now I kinda migrated back to the cars and Heavy and I just sort hit it off at a local speed shop open house. I think he mainly likes comin to me cause his car gets treated like it's mine, and he's been doing alot of learning while hovering as i do the work.. my labor is cheap too, I'm sure that's a bonus. I think he could do 95% of the work he's watched me do now.

My bike days have blessed me with a multitude of connections for tradesman work like paint, powder coat, chrome, and graphics so friends and family are gettin great deals on much of the stuff. Then those folks generally want someone to do the labor or mechanical and that's how things kinda go.

It ain't a business, just a hobby with some kick back.

I didn't know you worked for the Death Star, too. I'd love to get into the CO. I'm in the business office.
 
I would say that Erin is a very gifted and very humble mechanic. I have been very fortunate to have him working on my car and as a friend. Although it's true we met in person at a local speed shop's open house last spring, we really started talking to each other right here on Stangnet. We noticed that we only lived about 10 minutes from each other. So a big thank you goes out to Stangnet!

As for me being able to now due 95% of the work Erin has done....I don't know about that. I do try to learn something new everytime I am there...springs, driveshaft. The Kenne Bell was well out of my league and I was lucky to have Erin's meticulousness expertise.

So thanks Erin for everything and call me when you have time for my car. :nice:
 
Aww, I think I dripped a tear..

Glenn, all my stuff is beginning to wrap up and the show is only 2 weeks out, so before you know it we'll be under the hood.

Also, your cam covers are due to be done Wednesday..
