project 3.8 to 3.8 SC 95 stang

not to mention that s/c sucks. eaton let's see here.....
eaton my pulleys, eaton my belts, eaton my wallet

now what you really need is a good ketchup induction system. Dammit where is S&B and the Hoff when you need them

well you wanna give us 2k and ill throw and MPIII on there to make you happy :rlaugh:

eaton's are good blowers...mine got me on a very much stock engine 209/296.... good for a V6..

Define "sucks"

By sucks, if you mean it won't make the peek power of a Twin Screw, or the Cooler ACT's of a Centrifugal, then I guess your're right.

Otherwise, they're the most durable, long lasting, inexpensive blower you can buy....hands down. You may be able to make a few more ponies with another type, but no Centrifugal or Twin Screw on the market can touch it with respect to longevity and reliability!

I have known several people that have had them on both thunderbirds and bonnevilles/grand prix and like mentioned before they constantly tore through belts and destroyed idle pulleys. not a fan personally. sure stock it probably runs ok, but come on, boost is addictive. I bet you and your friend dont go 2 weeks before trying to squeeze more boost out of it(your 15. you have to. it's the law). If you built up too much "pressure" in a n/a engine what the hell do you think is gonna happen on a boosted engine??? But hey gearbanger is right. That s/c will keep spinning long after you have toasted another 3.8.

yeah want to know WHY the shreads belts....its because when you overdrive the blower you need a smaller belt...most people dont but a belt if they just go 10% that causes alot of slipping and then yes...it shreds...i drove the piss out of my SC n the short time i had it...didnt once let me down..only problem i had with it was hooking up...

i know plenty of people with super coupes and they belts are fine...

and Duh were going to try and get more boost..the key is to know how to do it the right way

Why? They're infamous for head gaskets  Belts I never heard of though.

yeah i know they are...but this has new head gaskets...they will last for a while...and its not like its going to be beat on every damn min of the day...

mine Sc was a 40k 209/296 motor and i beat the **** out of it for the short time i had it..like i said..boost temps only climbed a little when it was higher in the rpm range and my only problem was hooking up from a dig...

I must not know as much as Ryan, damn the last 15 years I have been building cars!!!!!!! must have ketchup induction!!!!

honestly how do you build up too much pressure in a n/a engine?detonation? did you over rev it and kill your rotating assembly? valve train take a crap? miss a shift and take out your push rods? as long as your exhaust valves are open any excess pressure will bleed out there. someone please correct me if I am wrong

i have no problem admitting when im wrong but i get sick of you older guys thinking that becasue im young i need someone to hold are hands while were dong anything....i know there's alot more for me to learn..remember i had a super coupe..i know what there strong parts are and there weak sections.

it's cause you act like you know everything and when someone tries to help you(really help) you call them an ass. I think you have made great strides with your convertible, dont get me wrong. I was just trying to share some of my experiences with you and you took it as an attack. you bite, and I'll bite back, chill out guy. it;s great that you want to help your friend. just take that stick off your shoulder.

chill out ryan.. he's right.. i was your age.. actually younger when i got on stangnet. The stangnet junkies back then had to rip me a new one for me to take advice when its meant as advice lol

yeah but i said i know what there weakness is on these boosted motors...and you kept coming back and tell me no its not that...remember i had a supercoupe..

i have no problem taking advice when its needed...ive been ripped a new one more times then i can count man.

takes a while.. when the 5 hoe gets done, and you get more experience, you'll understand where were comin from. Thats what had to happen for me. And suggestion, take everything said here with a grain of salt.. as in, don't take it to serious from most folks..

all I said was that the motors ate head gaskets and once you start swapping out s/c pulleys and u/d pulleys belts start to go bye bye. I have found this to be true on ford and gm cars. come on man give me a break.

yea, your right they do have issues with those.. i'd try to go to cometic head gaskets and some beefier pulleys if possible.

Actually, you initially blamed the problems associated with this set up on the blower itself, which just isn't the case. The Eaton supercharger is no harder on belts than any other. What kills the belt on an M90 is a user that’s trying to really over spin it by swapping out to an extremely small pulley. The smaller pulley means less belt wrap.....less belt wrap means more slip.....more slip means more heat/wear and we get the shredded belt you were referring to.

One way to combat this is A) do what I did and go with an 8-rib (and since this M90 originated from a Supercoupe, it should already be using one). I'm running a 2.35" 8-rib pulley and get no slip what so ever and other than a little initial belt dust during my first week of driving, no signs of wear either. B) build up a custom tensioner to increase the belt wrap around the blower pulley. The stock SC tensioner has never been a great design (come to think of it, supercoupeperformance sells a heavier spring for the stock tensioner that might get you by in a pinch.) Or C) Have a custom larger diameter crank pulley made (which is going to be a little on the pricey side) to overdrive the blower, which will eliminate the need to decrease the size of the blower pulley itself.

Now I don’t consider myself an expert by any means and I don’t consider myself an “old timer” being in my early 30’s, but I too have owned, built and raced my fair share of hot cars.....and as you can see by what I’m driving now, I’ve not always gone the conventional route. ;)
