Project $36.05 Header clean up and install...

Well the instalation is almost finished plenty of problems... see tech section under HEADERS UGGGH! lol.... but here is some pics of the clean took about 3 hours to do everything... sanded hit it with a dremmel wire brush and sprayed...
How they came....

Fixxed a few bad welds...

I tried that before and it flaked...maybe you will have better luck

belive it or not the paint took a beating while i was installing them... scratched a few spots.... but didnt take it down to metal... its doing a great job so far... ive used other paints that just seemed fo flake when hit... but this paint is awesome....

The heat is the true test..I used the 1500 degree VHT stuff....so I'm curious as well. The headers in my coupe look better than before (all beat down) still a silverish color just lots of flaking.
Its just a DD so no biggy, I dont pop the hood for braggin rights in it..hehe

ya i used some high temp header paint on my BBK's and a min after the first startup it was flaking maybe since their already ceramic coated thatll help

what did you guys use for prep? Do you think if you created a rough enough surface before painting, that it would help reduce the flaking? any primer used?

That penny WILL blow out just so you know. Many have tried and almost everyone has had issues with it. Just be forwarned.

Why do the headers look silverish in the first pic and then black in the rest? Did it change color as it dried?

he prolly just got done spraying it in that pic so it looks silverish...then when it dried it started to lose its luster.

Looks good man


btw...you think installing those was bad....try longtubes

I bead blasted mine prior to painting...but good try..hehe

Mine also flaked with in minuets after start up
