Project 81 HACK JOB TRACK TIMES!!!!

from what i can see the interior looks nice... how did that dash fit in there? alot of trimming?

Sorry, for the delay, I thought this thread was done.

Yes, lots of trimming. I could do it in half the time again....but there won't be another Hack Job in the near future.

BTW......Track times to come with my 91 notch. July 19th...(weather permitting) Mods in sig. Although, I am putting my 17X9 275 Nittos from my Cobra on the back, instead of the 17X8 245 Gatorback Goodyears on there currently.

Any predictions? :shrug::shrug:

I know the car feels slower than Hack Job

Oh no....that T5 I had rebuilt in 2006, so it's basically 6 months old for how much I drive it. I don't wanna break it.

A guy I know came to my work the other day, saying he just dynoed his notch...284RWHP T5...bla...bla bla....

He then said that he is gonna powershift it at the track within a couple weeks.

I said don't.....he said yes...:nonono:

He called me and said...guess what....I have no 3rd gear today!!! :(

True, but I just now recalled he told me it was "on it's way out" anyways. His car wasn't as fast as any of 25ths rides, but he said he was repeatedley launching at 5K with M/T's and cutting 1.76 short times...so I'm sure that didn't help.

Our GT40P car (290 rwhp or so) has been 1.59 60', consistent low 1.6xs (Launching at 6250 on Hoosiers).

Been 12.17 @ 110 and consistent 12.2xs (into a headwind at elevation: 3200 feet).

T5 lost 3rd and 4th a while back, but had 80K miles or so and LOTS of track passes. We had it rebuilt and other than my brother saying 2nd gear can be tricky it seems fine to me. I don't think he powershifts it, but I do when racing it.

T5s are hit and miss. Mine gets abused and powershifted as well and has held up for 5-6 years.

I actually like T5s, they shift smooth, cheap to rebuild, lightweight, and fun!

WOW! Man, those are great short times and 1320 times!!

I love the T5 too. I will have that arguement with anybody anyday. I haven't nad any problems with mine either, when I drive them. I might have a problem when purchasing a vehicle, because someone else messed it up though. Me personally...I have had good luck and I will stick with a T5.

Yes, I and everyone knows they are weak, but we have always gone with the idea that downshifting breaks them pretty good, high RPM will kill them, and having a hard clutch will do it. We run a weak clutch, shift it at 6000 and (hehe I donwshift all our stick cars, oops) avoid downshifting and then getting on the power and they seem to have lasted.

I've always downshifted.. I didnt realize it harmed the tranny. Its not like im doing a crazy hard downshift though..

SVT and 25th - looks like my escape DD is falling through. i'll have more funding for "blue balls".. I just am still up in the air about the color.. too many choices :(
