Project 81 Hack Job!!!!!

I think they look terrible to be 100% honest. I think the offset is perfect, and it was really smart of you to check out some 05+ wheels before you lay down the cash for wheels, but I just never liked the look of those wheels. I think a set of 17x9 chrome Pony R's like you mentioned with the 45mm offset would look amazing! You put SO much time into this car, get some wheels you REALLY like!

I agree with this statement 100%. The more I walk by the car as the morning goes on, I don't like them. The tires don't help....but the wheels take away from the car. It looks like an old man car. I am gonna buy them anyways, and flip 'em, the last set of 05+ wheels I had were Bullit's that were a little rashed and had 2 bald tires. I got 400 for those to some dude who threw them on a Ranger.

The the only thing I am worried about the 17X9 R's is that even though they have the 46mm offset, they are an inch wider....SOO....they will sit like the 17X8 30mm offset Bullits, but there will be more tire under the car which is what I want.

Iwashmycar-----They do look good on the red hatch. Maybe I just need to step away from my car. Sitting in the backroom, I can only get so many angles and so little distance. I like the wheels on the black car, but they are 18's, and I don't want to buy 18" tires....too much $$ for what you are getting.

TurkeySammich & Ryan218-----Thanks, but they aren't staying. It's funny how many Mustang calls I get per day. I had a guy just call me for any set of 17" wheels for his 01 GT. I told him 400 bucks, he said he'll come tomorrow. If I can make 200 in 1-1/2 days, I will....hehe.....and I don't even have all 4 yet.

stykthn----05+ wheels for well for the rear....as I said though make sure you have 96+ spindles, or go with spacers if you are using 94-95's. Rubbing is bad....

I think I would like these wheels A LOT if the center spokes were the opposite way. If they came out to the edge and into the center...they would be sick. I just don't like how the spokes are the opposite way of what I described.

I like them a lot better on the red hatch above than on my own car.

I personally don't like them. I think the way the paint "pops" you need a high finish wheel. I really like the new black Bullitt S197 wheels but i'm not sure how such a dark wheel color would fit when the paint is so bright. I really like the "fanblade" S197 wheels in chrome as well but they're 18" which you mentioned you'd like to stay away from. I think the wheels would suit better if they're chrome but which one is up for grabs. I really like the Pony Rs and will eventually get a set myself but being that the whole car is a 2001 theme i'm not sure it fits to have the old fox style wheels on it. The theme for my car is very different and the Pony Rs play right into it. Good luck! It's hard to make these types of decisions!

Again, I agree with this statement 100% as well. The Pony R wheel would give the car the ultimate sleeper look. I like the Chrome Bullits with that offset as well. I also like the 97 Cobra wheels I have, but they don't have the right offset for the rear. If won't affect anything with those, and the car looks the best so far with the 97 Cobra wheels, but I don't like how they are so far out. I think I'll buy a big offset style wheel and keep the 97 Cobras too.

DECISIONS DECISIONS!!!!

(Of course, I could swap to a 94-98 axle, but that involves, having it built like I had this 2001 axle built, 200-400 bucks depending on parts, buying new ABS sensors at 120 bucks, buying 94-98 LCA's at 179-250, and all afternoon's worth of work. ) THIS IS OUT OF THE QUESTION!! :D

most of my suspension if from a 99 gt and after talking to a bunch of people on corral they all recommended the 05+ wheels b/c of fitment issues with the 94/04 wheels.

I like 'em. And I think with a 245/45/17 it would make them look that much better.

You should try em on the 91 just for $hits and giggles.

bold- What's my cut? :D

Yeah, Jay I set them next to my 91 and they look better on black, but the offset will be too much on a fox length axle. The fronts will rub my spindles too. Those are a no go unless I use spacers on my 91.

I'll see you tonight at the shop and I'll grab those other 3 from your friend.

Project 81 Hack Job PICS***Come early

Hoping to get some good progress this weekend. It's 7:11pm Friday night. Here are the interior panels painted. I swear I will never spray with cans of spray paint again. I bought a quart of SEM black trim paint and sprayed it from my gun. WOW Much faster, and better.

Ugle 81 panels....NONONO....I went with porno red 87-93 panels

That is all. I will try and tackle the installation of weatherstrip, headliner trim, rear quarter trim panels, and back seat tomorrow before work, and maybe some tail light wiring afterwards. My friend is gonna push the brake while I find some power in the 2001 harness to mate with the 87-93 harness.
