i know this is an ignorant question, but i'd like to know. up until now i've been racing on radials so i havent needed to do a good burnout, now i have nitto dr's 275/40/17s and enough power to use them. i know this is a dumb question but if some of you veterans could help me out so next time i go to the track i get some decent 60's

You spin the tires until you see some smoke, if I'm not mistaken.

Hold down the brake, gas, and clutch all at once....give it enought gas to get to 1500rpm.....hold it for a sec then dump the clutch...while still holding the brake and gas...then rev the gas up and watch the smoke show.....

be very careful w/ the stock rearend... I've thrown two bushings by doing the burnouts... if this is for the benefit of the track, don't do a burn out, will NOT do anything for performance purposes... (if you're running street tires that is, which I assumed )

Left foot clutch, right heel brake, right toes gas pedel. Let out clutch and give it some gas while not letting off to brake any. Be careful not to over rev it.

Ok I am really thinking non of you can drive. on your burn out try to go through the water box where the the least amount of water, after you go through stop, stall it up little more the idle, let the clutch out when you feel the back tires break loose take ur foot and put it on the brake(you wanna slowly roll forward while ur doing ur burn out) take the car up too 3000-3500 rpms and keep it there, cont. to roll forward while spinning them at a consitant rpm, dont try to do a smoke show all ur doing is wasting rubber off those expensive dr. As ur doing the burnout and rolling forward, when you get the tires at the right temp you will feel them hook (you will know the feeling) ussaly after that I pop the gas a couple times, to make sure they hook when I pop the gas.

with any d/r or street tire I try to stay outta the water box and just get enough water on the to start too spin them, but the water if thrown up on ur finderwells and when ur going down the track it drips down and when ur going to slam a gear and some of that water gets on ur tire it can really kill ur time or scare the **** outta you

And I really think your an ass. A rolling burnout eh? Theres not ONE car at the track that I go to that goes a rolling burnout... Not even the 9 sec cars out there. The Nittos need to be heated up good to hook at the track (I would know) and if you keep it at 3000-3500rpm then you'll be sitting there forever to get the tires nice and warm and your car would probably bog and stall, maybe not if you were in first gear.

If your going by what thoes top fuel dragsters do by the rolling burnout, no chit. Look at their front tires! You cant expect thoes little things to stop a 6500hp car from moving so they have to do the rolling burnout. And front wheel drive cars... Thats about all they can do because they lock the e-brake and drag their azz across the track while doing a burnout.

Ok all that work you got done, only a 13.5 I rest my case, the whole point on slowly rolling forward while ur doing burnout is the feel when the tires are warm enough, cause you will fell it hook, it dosent take much to heat a drag radial. its still a street tire the rubber isnt as soft as a slick, but do it ur way and be buying new D/R every couple months. and unless you got a line lock it really saves ur brakes to slowy roll forward.

and another thing with those d/r you only got a 1.93 60' think you need some schooling

Yeah that is very true, but some tracks u go too like my local track, there is no driving around the water box, so I pick a spot with the least amout of water and go real slow through it

Whatcha do, is you buy a Hurst Roll Control, and it keeps you from looking like a dork trying to juggle the pedals.

Without linelock be prepared to be buying new brakes. 4 wheel disc brakes don't take kindly to burnouts.

yeah I agree linelock is the way to go...I mean why waste brakes AND tires while you can look just as bad ass and only waste tires?

So, with all this good advice, who here has a line lock?

"Then I slapped him and said I'm Rick James B****, HA HA HA!!"

But seriously, yes line locks are sweet and they are relatively cheap. Line locks for everyone! Of course the install on our cars at least is pretty involved.

Damn you dont know the problems with my car... For one I only have one wheel spinning so I cant get that great traction, Two I have stock injectors and MAF on my car and with all the stuff I have done that is NOT GOOD, and finally my car doesnt have a tune done to it at all. So between all of thoes thats the reason why my car is only running a 13.5.

How does Paul do his burnouts? Nittos take a little bit to get heated up and you wont get them up high enough from doing a rolling burnout. I agree with the line-lock thing. If your into racing and have to do burnouts that its a must have so you wont be wasting the brakes.

Just because we dont do a rolling burnout doesnt mean we all cant drive. I guess the 8sec turbocharged 4.6 mustang at my track has a crappy driver because he doesnt do a rolling burnout... Maybe he could bring his time down 1/2 second if he did one. NOW does it fkin matter how you do a burnout as long as the tires get heated up properly??? NO so dont be going around saying we cant drive because we powerbrake our cars at the track to get the tires heated up. Most of the people at the track, including myself, do roll out of their burnout (not just stop then go) but everyone sits there, power brakes their car for a little bit, then slowly lets off the brake and rolls out of their burnout. Now if thats what you ment, then sorry for being a jerk but you dont really have any rights saying we cant drive
