Proper burnout technique?

I will speak for everyone when I say STFU

Ok I am really thinking non of you can drive. on your burn out try to go through the water box where the the least amount of water, after you go through stop, stall it up little more the idle, let the clutch out when you feel the back tires break loose take ur foot and put it on the brake(you wanna slowly roll forward while ur doing ur burn out) take the car up too 3000-3500 rpms and keep it there, cont. to roll forward while spinning them at a consitant rpm, dont try to do a smoke show all ur doing is wasting rubber off those expensive dr. As ur doing the burnout and rolling forward, when you get the tires at the right temp you will feel them hook (you will know the feeling) ussaly after that I pop the gas a couple times, to make sure they hook when I pop the gas.

with any d/r or street tire I try to stay outta the water box and just get enough water on the to start too spin them, but the water if thrown up on ur finderwells and when ur going down the track it drips down and when ur going to slam a gear and some of that water gets on ur tire it can really kill ur time or scare the **** outta you

Obviously, the guy doesn't know much if he see's a 13.5 @ 102. That goes to show that the car is running at it's potential. With a 102 trap speed (depending how light the car is) you may get a high 13.3, but with our weight, that is a respectable time for the speed.

If this dude is so good, where the hell are his time slips? I think I'm going to change my profile to a very famous quote by Robin Lawrence - "Lets face it, some people just can't drive, that's why all we see are dyno numbers listed in their sigs." Or, I may get a new avatar that has "Internet racers" with a big X through it like Bob Cosby does on the Corral.

Sorry your is busted , but after you spend all that money for those H/C/I you think you would have set it up properly.

But you should really invest into a dyno tune and get it rechipped.

It takes 10mins to change the mass air, and injectors take about 45 mins to put thats counting the beer brakes.

So I really wouldnt use that as an excuse, cause I dont see why you would go the track if ur not full set up

One reason I said most people cant drive, because you really dont wanna spin your tires over 4k at the most, mustang has a little problem with spinning the rubber on the harmonic balancer. I guess thats not a reason to say people cant drive, but I really like to know how many people here (I see a few) really know there stuff, or just trying to act like they know something.

Cause I dont want someone who took their car too a performance shop to get a cold air induction giving me information.(Not saying any of you did, just saying in gerenal).

Now answer me this since your so smart... And I know since your basically calling me stupid that you havent been following my posts about turbos. Why WASTE the money on 24lb injectors and a Pro-M 80mm MAF to just have to turn right around and have to buy 42lb injectors and a Pro-M Univer MAF?!?! I dont see any logic in that at all. Thats a good $500 right down the drain :notnice:

Also... why get a car tuned when theres going to be major work done to it shortly? Another waste of money. And that balancer problem... There are aftermarket balancers out there that are a lot better and the majority of people on here who see the track regularly have a romac or some other sort of balancer that can withstand 4k+ rpm

Paul just posted in another thread he ran 13.6 @ 103mph right after he got his car how it is now... DAMN I ran faster than that (not bragging) and with tuning he got his car down to 12.3 @ 111mph. I dont know how this thread got into a discussion about who cant drive or who can, it was simply a "How to do a burnout" thread. For all we know he could just want to have some fun on a back street and light up his tires.

Why bother?

Nothing you said makes sense; well, not to the people who know how to read and write properly.

You don't want to spin your tires over 4k because you spin your rubber on the harmonic balancer? I'll remember that next time I burnout/launch the car on slicks. I don't want to burnout or launch at any RPM over 4000, because some tool on the internet said it wasn't a good idea.

People go to the drag strip to have fun, it's not always serious. If you are serious about drag racing, how about you contribute something informative to the discussion. Oh wait, you tried.

Do I know what I'm talking about? Yes, I do. (Most of the time :D.) But when I don't, I make sure I tell people that I'm not really sure or I'm taking a wild guess. There are younger kids on here, who don't know what they are doing, who are asking for serious, honest answers. You telling them that revving a 5.0 over 4000 RPM is not good, is not good. We're all facts here. So go ahead - try doing a rolling burnout without taking the revs over 4000 RPM, because you might spin the balancer. We'll see how far you get .

I'm definitely taking Cosby's avatar on the Corral and using it as my own.

Just to inform you Dave - I went 11.4 last night at 114. Beat ya! :jester:

Sorry for being an ass guys, I just hate when completely false information is given out and someone swears they are right. Especially when they come across as a know-it-all. The only know-it-all around here, is me! :D

nicely put Joe :nice: But i'm running 10.9's at the track on street tires. Got it down to 10.13 on slicks.
:bang: Should have done the proper rolling burnout and I could have had a 9.99 e/t that time :bang:

guys guys guys I have a serious question for yall to amnswer:

so I shouldnt take it above 4k for the 5 second burnout, but the 12.9 seconds I spend above 4K going down the track is ok? should I start shifting at 4k

I'm afraid so. You were aware of the limitations of the stock balancer, correct? Anything above 4000 RPM and it's liable to come flying apart at any moment. You are putting yourself and everyone else at the track at enormous risk by going above 4000 RPM. Don't do it!

And then there's the stock clutch... don't get me started on that. No more clutch dumps or power shifting for you!
