PS pump question

Hey guys... the end seals on my rack recently went out on me (the bellows were filled with PS fluid)

Well, when I did my 331 project I ended up buying a new PS pump. Well, I got to looking at it...and this one isn't the same as a V8 pump. I compared it to a friends V6 pump and apparently the parts store guy gave me a V6 pump.

Do you think this would explain why my rack went bad?

I don't know if the V6 pump internals are any different than the V8. I do know that the return hose fittings are at a different angle though.

to tell the truth, I don't know why ford would create 2 different steering racks for the V6 and the GT model unless the GT one somehow performed better. I guess I didn't really answer your question, but here's a bump ttt for ya.

that's what I was thinking..it'd just be a waste for ford to make two different ones IMO

buttt, just to be safe.

You can check on www.partsamerica.com. Just compare part numbers for a V6 and a V8.
