Ok...when I had my 91 gt I put underdrives on it and it made a big difference, but the only thing I didnt care for was the fact that with the underdrives on the alt. you never get the volts unless you upgrade the alt. So what Im contiplating with the coupe is to run either underdrives and dont put on the alt pulley, or run a race crank pulley but I have read these are not good for street use. So what combo of pullies do you run? :shrug:
 
I dont see the point in underdriving the alternator. When Car Craft or whoever had that fan shootout years ago on the engine dyno, they decided to see how much power the alternator took and it was like 2 horsepower if I remember right. I see drag cars without them all the time but they need every last horsepower usually and it's less weight for them.

I think the pulley would only do anything if it's lighter really, I cant see much gain in underdriving something that dosent take much power to begin with.
 
I run all of the MAC underdrives on an old battery with the stock alternator and I have had no problems in over a year now. If you're going to have charge issues it's not because the car was idling for 5 minutes at 8 volts. The starter cranking at over 250 amps draw pulls a lot more out of the battery than idling.
