Pulling 5.0 and trans

I am in the process of pulling my 5.0 and the trans. Its the first time I have done it so I am going slow to make sure I did it right. So far I have disconnected most everything on the engine. I also relieved the fuel pressure and removed the gas tank altogether. The exhaust is removed completly up to an including the headers. This weekend I removed the driveshaft. I want to make sure that I don't overlook anything. Anyone have any other suggestions for me or tips to make removing the engine and trans easier? Thanks.

Make sure all connections are of course diconnected, trans shifter I like to take off unless your removing the trans sepratly, I remove radiator also, Start going slow and try to watch everythin making sure you haven't missed anything, sounds like your good to go,

Radiator is already removed. The transmission is automatic. Is it hard to remove the shifter for that?

I have never taken out an aod on a mustang i have onlt 5 speeds, but It cannot be that hard, even if you just remove the handle, Any AOD guys in here would be able to answer that better. You could always lower the trans mount let it tilt down so you can acces the bell housing blots easier and remove trans seperate. I'm sure you can figure it out.

You only need to remove the cable from the shifter to the tranny. the actual shifter wont need to be taken out. The cable is on the drivers side and has a ball joint connector and a bracket that needs to be unbolted. Enjoy the uninstall!

Haven't looked for it yet. Is the connector and bracket easily accessable working on jackstands?

If possible I actually want to remove the engine and trans together instead of separating them and removing separatly.

yep. on jack stands its right there on the drivers side. Real easy to get to.

Ok cool. I am going to try that tonight. I will hopefully be replacing the trans with a C4.

You may be doing this but, before I took stuff apart on my 84 I took pics with a digi cam. Because sure enough when it was time to put it back, I kinda for got how a few things went. Also mark your connectors with tape and number the connections (like 1 to 1). Helps with remembering what went where. I am still new to the game as well so I take extra precautions.

Same here. This is the first time I am doing this so I am taking tons of pictures with my digital camera.
