putting 18's on my new edge

i wanna get 18's for my 2003 gt which has a 1.5 inch drop.

the front would be 18x9 with 275/40/18, and the back would be 18x10 with 285/35/18 (recommended by american muscle)

a few quick things i need to know

1.) will the back tires get cut or rub if i dont roll the fenders?
2.) will the speedometer/odometer be thrown off by difference in diameter of the tire? (if so how do i fix this)
3.) do 18's actually fill out the fender gap more, or is it just more rim and less tire?
4.) should i just stick to 17's? and do 315 in the back with 275 up front

no rolling of fenders, no rubbing or cutting or rubber. i ran this combo on my GT and now on my cobra.

+1 it wont rub and you won't need to roll the fenders. I just stuck with the 17's with a 315 series tire
heres mine with the 17/35/315

18's look really good on New Edge Mustangs. If have the money to spare for larger wheels and more expensive tires, I'd go for it. They won't rub as the people above me have shown you pics with that combo. I do like 315 17's too, so either way it will look sweet.

nice, im guessing your gt was dropped as well as your cobra now?

how bout the speedo, did you just leave it alone?

at least i have the most important question out of the way. thanks for the answers so far

yep, the GT was dropped too.

speedo is fine with no modification. i drove past those "your speed is" signs all the time and it was always right on.

edit: oh yeah, those are eibach sportline springs on the GT, and my cobra has the H&R sport spring.

damn that looks sweet. same color as my car. i was gunna get black bullitts and i was thinkin anthracite fr-500's and those make a good case for them are those hypercoated or anthracite?

they are anthracite. i think they match the DSG much better than hypercoated and they are easier to take care of.

i really miss that car and the color. if i could of had a DSG 99-01 cobra that is what i would have gotten. someday i will get my cobra painted DSG though

Here is another example, no roled lip, Steeda Sportline springs and 18" polished cobra's, 315/30/18 on rear and 275/40/18 front no rubbing lock to lock! but it sure likes to track!

Just thought I would throw my tire combo in the mix. I'm running 255/40/18 and 295/35/18's. Most people will say not to go with the 255's on the front, but mine have been great with no rubbing issues at all. 18's are the way to go IMO.

That's exactly what I want to do to my car. How do you like your Steeda lowering springs? How is the ride quality? Pearl02.

Steedas have been very good. It is firmer than stock, and noticeable, but its not jarring by any means. I also have Bilsteins on it, so they may be slightly firmer than other shocks. Overall, I'm glad I went with them. I have thought about going with the H&R's, but that may be in the future. Right now, I'm very happy with my setup.

bottom pics kinda dark but tried to get a pic of width of tire from back
go with 18's and the buy some 17s for the track, i just got some 17x9 03 cobra's with drag radials for the track

putting 18's on my new edge
