I just pulled the rear end out of my 87 gt. I got new shocks for it and a used set of stock springs. I pulled out the rear end today and the quad shocks are horrible. All beat up. If i push on one it bacially falls on its face, the other is pretty difficult to push in and both are hard to pull out. What should i do here? Should i order new ones or leave these on? I plan in spring or summer to get new racing upper and lower control arms. What should i do here?

Well the way they are now they're not doing you any good. They're there to help stop wheel hop...but they never cure it, even when new.

Personally I have aftermarket control arms and my quad shocks are still on...only because they're still good and I don't have any reason to ditch them. Anything to help traction.

If you have a good set of shocks the quads aren't needed, some people will say that you get more wheel hop but I never noticed it...New shocks will definately improve the traction

Also the quad shocks won't be needed at all once you do the lower and uppers

well If your getting new control arms why not get control arms that delete the quad shocks. That is what I did. I got the HPMS megabytes control arms upper & Jr.lower's. If you still want to keep them I say go with KYB quads. I used them and they are stiff so they would plant the tires very good.

I just put new FRPP uppers and MM lowers on and went with KYB shocks/struts/quads. The KYB's like said earlier are very stiff, I can hardly push them in. The way the car pulls now is very different than before. I'll have to pull the quads this weekend to run my larger drag radials, guess I'll see if any problems arise.

If you end up going with a stock style (non lift) LCA then you'll probably want to get new quads. The little bastids aint cheap, KYB only makes them in their gas-adjust line. I used GR2's for the struts and shocks. I think Monroe also makes the quad shock.

Monroe=paper. I know mine are trashed. I rarely get wheel hop though. In sand it has happened a time or two. A few times at the track I got it spinning really fast in first and it started to hop badly. I am thinking MM double adj. uppers and lowers and ditch the quads. Screw it, spend the $ on some good parts instead of wasting it on some cheap stuff that you will be disappointed in, thats my theory.
