question about a connector, anyone know what its for?

Hey,
got a question for you guys... i got an 89 2.3 stang that i swapped to a 2.3 turbo, and its got a mystery connector that looks just like the spout you pull out to set your timing (i am guessing the 5.0's had this too). Up by the battery, in the upper left corner of the engine compartment near the ignition coil, there is another two wire connector with one of these same plugs in it... ive asked on some 2.3 boards and people there know what i am talking about but have no clue what the heck it is or what its there for... anyone got any idea???

Perhaps it's an octane adjust plug. Some fords (like my 93 escort) have a octane adjust plug. It looks just like my SPOUT. I'm GUESSING that it is for when the car is sent out of country where their gas is of a different octane. A while back, I briefly checked into this and IIRC it pulls 3° timing out. NOT REALLY SURE ON THIS...

Well, check your timing, then pull it out and and check it again, see if there is indeed a difference.

You'd have to check with the SPOUT in. Would you be able to tell if it did retard since the advance seems to jump around a lot under computer control?
